We look forward to seeing you soon!

School schedules, teacher assignments will be available August 14
On Wednesday, August 14, families will be able to log in to their student’s PowerSchool account to see their teacher assignments and school schedules. You can find out more information about logging onto PowerSchool here. Families new to the school district will be sent a letter in the U.S. Mail with their PowerSchool log-on information. Sixth-grade students will be able to pick up supplies and schedules on August 14. Seventh- and eighth-grade students will be able to pick up supplies on August 16.
New and not-so-new faces at Westfield
You may see some new names at Westfield this fall, though some of them belong to familiar faces.
Fifth grade teacher Natalie Filas was married this summer and is now Mrs. Kielion.
Third grade teacher Erin Quaid was also married and is changing her name to Mrs. Spino.
Paige Martino is now an instructional coach for the district, so Audrey Jay is Westfield's new special education resource teacher. Ms. Jay is an experienced special education teacher who has worked with a variety of needs, and she will be a great addition to Westfield. Mrs. Martino will still be a familiar face at Westfield, and she is working with Ms. Jay and Ms. Stelmar to ensure a smooth transition for the students formerly on her caseload.
Mrs. Wrodarczyk has joined Ms. Mazur and Mrs. Kielion on the fifth grade team, which will be our only grade level with three sections this year.
Nurse Stephanie had a baby girl this spring and has decided to stay home with her full time, so she will not be returning to Westfield. I am pleased to announce that Nurse Linda, who we came to love during Nurse Stephanie's maternity leave, will be returning to be Westfield's full time nurse.
Mrs. Falkenthal, who taught some sections of art and music for us last year, will be returning to teach second grade music and two sections of fifth grade art.
One section of PE will be taught by a new PE teacher who will be at Westfield in the mornings and will work closely with Mrs. Hanneman.
School fee invoices were sent via email on August 7
On Wednesday, August 7, CCSD 89 families were sent an emailed invoice from MySchoolBucks requesting payment for 2024-25 school fees. The invoice came from “do-not-reply@myschoolbucks.com”. As a reminder, school fees were not paid during registration. Families can also pay for optional items (such as gym clothes, lockers, and recorders) through MySchoolBucks. If you did not receive an invoice from MySchoolBucks, please check your junk mail or spam folder. Read more: https://bit.ly/46JlFn5
Meet the Teacher on August 20th
Join us on Tuesday, August 20th from 8:00-8:30 a.m. to meet your child's teacher and drop off school supplies in your child's classroom.
Lunch/recess supervisors needed
Westfield is looking for lunch/recess supervisors. Supervisors work from 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. each school day. The pay is $18 per hour. Supervisors oversee students to ensure a safe and orderly lunch and recess.
A job description and application can be found on the district's website. If you are interested or would like more information, contact Principal Ulery.
Kindergarten transition events
Incoming kindergartners and their families are invited to join the PTC for a meet and greet on August 13 from 5:00-6:00 p.m. on the Westfield playground. This is a great opportunity to meet other kindergarten students and families.
All incoming kindergarten students are also invited to the PTC's kindergarten scavenger hunt on August 19 at 6:00 p.m. Students will meet some other kids and do a scavenger hunt to learn their way around the school.
Summer Reading Program
If your child has been participating in the summer reading challenge, they have just over two weeks to go.
If you need to print additional log forms, you can access them here.
Know which health forms your student needs
Students entering preschool, kindergarten or sixth grade, as well as students who are new to CCSD 89, must have a current certificate of child health exam and updated immunization record on file. All Illinois children entering kindergarten, second, and sixth grades are required to have a dental exam. An eye exam is required for children enrolling in kindergarten and students new to Illinois. Additionally, any Glen Crest students who want to try out for athletics have a pre-participation form filled out by a doctor. Go to the CCSD 89 health page for forms, resources, and more information: www.ccsd89.org/health
