Title 1 Family Engagement May 2024
During the month of April we had a great opportunity for our 4th grade students and Native Language students to go root digging. Jilisa Suppah also visited our middle school Culinary Studies class and Native Language classes to give presentations on traditional foods. We are so grateful that our students have these opportunities to learn from the community and from our Native Language Teachers. This is part of what makes Warm Springs K-8 Academy a great school!
In May, our Native Language students will show their knowledge of Native Language at the Knowledge Bowl that will take place in our school gym on May 23rd.
Prioritizing Safety: A Message to Our School Community
Dear Families,
Ensuring the safety and well-being of every student remains our top priority at Warm Springs K-8 Academy. Recently, we've noticed an increase in students showing affiliation with gangs within our schools. It's crucial to remind everyone of our strict policy against gang activity, including the prohibition of any behaviors or symbols associated with gangs. Any student found engaging in such activities will face disciplinary action, which could include suspension or expulsion. We are committed to providing a safe and supportive learning environment for all students, and we are asking for your partnership in this effort. Together, we can continue to ensure that WSK8 remains a place where our students flourish.
Sincerely,
WSK8 Admin Team

State Testing
Our students in grades 3-8 will participate in state testing this spring. Students will take an assessment in English Language Arts which focuses on reading and writing. They will also take a math assessment. Students in grades 5 and 8 will take an assessment in Science.
During testing it is important for students to
- Get a good night of sleep each night
- Eat a healthy breakfast
- Attend school each day
You can help your student by
- Ensuring they go to bed each night at an appropriate time
- Encouraging them to eat a healthy breakfast at home or at school
- Ensuring they arrive to school on time
- Encouraging them to do their best and take their time
- Asking them how the test is going to show them that you care about their progress
We encourage students to do their best and show what they know! Students have been working hard and we can't wait to see them show what they know!
Testing will begin at the end of April and go through mid-May.
