Principal's Corner
We enjoyed our time with parents at Back to School night last week. Thank you for spending some time with us. Parents are partners in a child’s educational experience. You matter, even to those pre-teens and teenagers, more than you know! If you ever have any questions or concerns about your student’s class please reach out to their teacher, we are looking forward to partnering with you throughout the year!
One of our founding principles is ability grouping based on data in math and reading. Many grades are starting to ability group in math and reading as test scores come in and class cut-points are found. These class groupings change each year as students grow and new students join us. We spend many days and hours of team meetings placing our students each year in a class where they can grow and be successful. I am proud of the work our teachers do to support our ability groups. Students can grow throughout the year and each quarter we reassess their knowledge and they may change their ability group based on their growth! Ability groups are meant to be fluid so we can best support students where they are and ensure they meet our high academic standards.
I hope everyone enjoys the three-day weekend. We all appreciate a moment to rest and our students have worked really hard these first three weeks. Go have fun Gators!!

Embracing the Gift of Failure
Last spring teachers and some parents read The Book of Failure by Jessica Lahey. Everyone felt the book had many great insights for parents and teachers. Ms. Krier created a short 6-minute video summarizing some of the key points to the book. We strongly encourage you read the book but also know that time is often tight. Click the link below for the video and please reach out to Ms. Krier at skrier@lps.k12.co.us with any questions or concerns.

Volunteering at Littleton Academy
At Littleton Academy, we ask for 20 volunteer hours per family per year. This can take many forms from being on a board, helping at lunch or donating items for events. If you are volunteering in the building, we need you to complete a background check through Littleton Public Schools. Once you have completed the background check, we will print a badge that you will wear when volunteering in the building during school hours. If you already have an account, you do not need to do anything until you receive an email letting you know that you need to renew your application.
Please use the following link to set up you account: LPS Volunteers
Don't forget to log your volunteer hours here!
Safety Update
We wanted to provide you with the information and resources that have been shared with students and staff. We had our first fire drill last week and it went very smoothly. Fire drills will happen once a month throughout the year and we will have two lockdown drills this year. Our first lockdown drill is coming this month and the second will be in January. We let all of our students and teachers know when drills are coming as they are for practice. The following videos have been shown to students so they are aware of the protocols before the drills take place.
- The Standard Response Protocol
- The Standard Response Protocol video (Middle and High School students)
- Safety Awareness for K–5 Students video (Elementary Students)
