Well Done Tigers!
Sports Day
We were blessed with great weather for Sports Day this year, which started as always with Nursery and Reception taking part in a series of races in the morning. All of the children joined in, with support from some of our Year 6 pupils, and took part in the obstacle race, bean bag balance, potato and spoon, and running race! The children had a great time and thank you to all the families who joined us.
In the afternoon, it was time for KS1 and KS2 to show off their sports skills. The children donned their team T-Shirts and competed against each other to score points for Team Tigers, Team Sharks or Team Dragons. There was a range of different activities for the children to participate in, including dribbling a football, scoring netball goals, racing over hurdles, throwing a bean bag, and much more! After the children had relaxed and cooled down with an ice lolly, Year 6 took part in their mile race, which was then followed by relay races for Years 3-6. The final points were totalled and the winning team announced by Mrs Perkins. It was victory to... The Tigers! Well done to all the children for taking part, and a big thank you to Mrs Perkins, Miss Haslam and Mrs Linkins for organising the event. We were delighted to see so many families joining us to support the children, so thank you to everyone who attended.
Duck Race
Not surprisingly, given recent dry weather, our ducks were on a go slow on Wednesday evening. To the rescue, a pirate named Dan in his unicorn dinghy, his band of shipmates - and a leaf blower! Thank you to all the families who came along, we are sure you enjoyed the event. Thanks too, of course, to the Friends of the School and their support crew, including some of our staff, for making sure the race took place.
Year 5 Visit to St. Peter's School in Leeds
On Wednesday, the Year 5 children travelled to St Peter's C of E Primary School in Leeds to meet their pen pals. It was the first time the children had met after writing letters to each other. The children had a super day completing different activities partnered by their pen pals. They took part in an orienteering activity around the school grounds and unscrambled letters to identify each school's values and they completed an activity encouraging the children to find out more about each other. They enjoyed eating lunch outside, finishing with an ice lolly. We can't wait to see our pen pals again in July when they visit our school for the day!

Message from Mrs Walsh
I just wanted to say a heartfelt thank you for the kind words and get well messages while I have been away from school over the last couple of weeks. I am pleased to say I am well on the road to recovery and happy to now be back in school. I would like to extend a huge thank you to Mrs Linkins for her leadership in my absence, and to the whole staff team for pulling together to support Mrs Linkins and each other during a busy term. Well done also to our hardworking and resilient Year 6 pupils who successfully navigated SATs week last week – we are very proud of your positive attitudes and determination during the four days of testing, and are confident that you did your very best.
NSPCC’s 'Speak out. Stay safe.' Programme
I am pleased to inform you that we are participating in the NSPCC’s Speak out. Stay safe. Programme this term. Speak out. Stay safe. is a programme for children aged 5-11 which aims to help children understand abuse in all its forms and to recognise the signs of abuse. Children are taught to speak out if they are worried, either to a safe adult or Childline.
This child friendly programme is aligned with the curriculum and consists of age appropriate virtual assemblies and supporting classroom based activities which we have reviewed, alongside NSPCC volunteer led face to face workshops for children aged 6-7 and 9-11. The content is delivered in an engaging and interactive way with the help of the NSPCC mascot Buddy. The workshops will take place next half term for pupils in Year 2, Year 5 and Year 6.
If you would like to know more about the Speak out. Stay safe. programme visit www.nspcc.org.uk/speakout.
