Notes from the Family Ambassador
Hello Gables Families. I hope you were able to join us on Tuesday for the Open House and have a better understanding of what is happening in your student's day while they are here with us at Gables. I also hope this event opened up some more communication ideas between you and your student about their daily activities and their teachers.
I wanted to invite you all to attend our PTA's Bingo night this Friday at 6:00pm. Bingo Night can be a fun and interactive way for the whole family to spend some quality time together. Believe it or not, this is a great family engagement opportunity. Maybe you've never played bingo games before, it's fast, easy to learn, and fun! Here is a quick overview, in bingo you are given a series of cards, a presenter will call numbers and letters, and you match them on your card and mark them off. If you check five consecutive boxes you yell "BINGO" and can win a prize once they check your card. The rows can be horizontal, diagonal, or vertical. We will explain again at the event and even do a practice round before we begin.
This game can help students in so many ways. From making sure everyone is listening carefully, recalling information quickly, to matching words and numbers. These actions help reinforce what they've learned in class while improving their memory and focus. The excitement of the game keeps students engaged and the competitive (yet friendly) environment helps build social skills like teamwork and communication. Not to mention, the quick, repeated practice of concepts, makes it easier for students to absorb and retain information. Who knew Bingo was so valuable to learning and FUN!?!?! Hope to see you there!
We love to learn. Go get'em Gators!

There is a special clinic happening at your student's school where they can get the flu shot. And guess what? The vaccine is absolutely FREE for everyone at the school in grades K-12, including the teachers and staff.
The clinic will take place at Gables Elementary on OCTOBER 1st, 2024.
Return completed paper consent by SEPTEMBER 25th 2024.
Register online at redcap.columbus.gov/surveys/?s=99A47HMDK4WTRPXH
Here's what you can expect at the vaccine clinic:
- Getting Vaccinated: The nurses at the clinic are trained to give your student the vaccines they need. It's quick and doesn't hurt too much!
- Learning about Vaccines: If you have any questions, don't worry! The nurses will happily answer them and explain why vaccines are important. They keep us safe and healthy!
- Free Vaccines: You don't have to worry about paying any money because all the vaccines at the clinic are completely free. It doesn't matter how much money you have; everyone can get vaccinated.
- Easy to Reach: The clinic will be at school, so your student won't have to go very far. We want it to be easy for everyone at school to go; they won't miss any school activities.
- Your Privacy Matters: Your student's information is private and safe. The people at the clinic will not share it, and nobody else will know about their health information.
The goal of the vaccine clinic is to keep you and everyone at your school heathy and safe.
By getting vaccinated, your student can protect themselves from getting sick with the flu.

So, let's not wait. Make sure to sign up your student for the vaccine clinic, get vaccinated and stay healthy!
