The Environment
Group 1 - #EcoAirBeAware
Preserve the environment for the animals.
The Issue
The Don’t Mess with Texas website says that “Approximately 435 million pieces of visible litter accumulate on Texas roadways each year.” That is about 1,191,780 pieces of trash thrown out each day. We have noticed the littering around the city of Waco, and feel that we need to preserve the environment in this community so that animals can live long and healthy lives.
We feel strongly that animals are very important to the environment and therefore, we need to take better care of them. We saw that littering is harming animals, and we want to raise awareness to that and change it. We can do this by keeping their environments clean and litter free.
Our Advocacy Project
How You Can Get Involved
#EcoAirBeAware
A 3k and 5k walk/run called #EcoAirBeAware along the Brazos River to raise awareness of the environment and the animals that live there. The event starts at 9:30am and will end at 12 noon.
On that same day after the run we will also host a trash pick up where people in the community can donate money for how many pieces of trash a person picks up. Money raised would be donated it to Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) so that they can put it towards helping the environment. This event starts at 1pm and will end at 6pm.
