Tiger Talk
Nov. 17
I have to brag on our elementary students for absolutely superb behavior at the Veterans Day Assembly on Monday. Our Tigers were incredibly respectful and attentive. They did a wonderful job. Super proud principal moment for sure!
The elementary Christmas program is just around the corner. There will be changes to how we do things this year. For starters k-4 students will no longer report to the elementary gym. They will now report to their classrooms. Following the program guardians will need to pick up their children from their classrooms as well. The safety of our students is of great importance. This change ensures students are adequately supervised and dismissed to the appropriate adult.
We will also begin a 12 days of Christmas countdown for staff and students. The fun will begin on the 5th of December. Keep an eye out for the details.

Smithton Cares
This time of year, many people like to clean their yards of leaf litter and debris. This is a great opportunity to start a compost pile rather than bagging it up to go in a landfill. A good compost pile has a combination of wet and dry wastes. Wet wastes include fruit and vegetable peelings, tea bags, and grass clippings. Dry wastes include leaves, crumpled paper, and pieces of cardboard. Avoid pet wastes. If it gets too wet add dry wastes and if it gets too dry as wet wastes. Rotate occasionally. By spring time you will have a great mixture to add to your flower beds and gardens. Give it a try and remember Smithton Cares!
