Hungate Echo
Autumn Term, Week 3
A word from Mr Broom
Our third week of the academic year is now over and things are really getting going throughout school. It's wonderful to see how our new children have settled in, and to say it's only their 15th day in school for some, you would think they've been here for years!
Thank you to all the year six parents/carers who came along to family consultations with your child. It was really helpful to give an overview of the year as we lead up to moving to high school. Thank you also to Miss Anderson and Miss Weston for their work in preparing for them.
Next week, we have our MacMillan Coffee afternoon and school photos; just two of the highlights in another busy week.
Have a super weekend everyone.

House Launch
East House re-launch! 🔵
Good morning SHP! I am Miss Bingham and I am going to be the East House Captain for this academic year! You will find me working in the reception Jellyfish class!
East house showed great teamwork as they used the different equipment to transport water from one container to another. They tried really hard not to waste any of the water. 💧
A great effort East House, lets earn lots of house points! 🔵
Hello!!
I am Miss Jackson and the new captain for North house this year. You will find me down in Year 2 Eagles! I am so excited to be your new captain and can’t wait to see what this year bring!
That’s our house launch done for north house and it was incredible, you were all so amazing!
As North house is all about electricity, both our activities surrounded this topic!
KS1 went on a mission to create an ‘electrical’ circuit using wooden planks! We then made it harder by using ourselves as the circuit and the ball as the current! They absolutely smashed it and learnt all about how electricity moves!
In the afternoon , KS2 went on to design posters for all the teacher in school, detailing how important it is to conserve electricity. They were tasked with creating the best poster to display around school. I have had a look through and they all look amazing, well done KS2!😆
Every single child worked incredibly hard, i am so proud of you all! I can’t wait to complete more North activities and hopefully win the house points!!!😆🤞
Let’s go North!!!!
Hello!!
I am Mr Scaling and the new house captain for south house this year. You can find me working with Y5 Zebras and it’s a pleasure to take the captaincy this year to (hopefully) win this years house point total.
That’s our house launch done for south house and it was nothing short of incredible!!
Our KS1 carried out a scavenger hunt to find suitable materials within the forest school area to spell out the word south~ they smashed it 😄
Our KS2 team then went on an orienteering map experience before coming back and having a go at building dens ⛺️all year groups worked incredibly hard with limited resources and produced some fantastic dens to sit in 😁
Let’s go south!!
Good morning,
I am Mrs Kelsey, the new captain for West this year! You will find me in Reception in the Starfish classroom 😊. I am so excited to be your new captain and can't wait to see what this year brings for West house.
The house launch for West was wonderful, it was an amazing experience to be a part of!
As West house is all about recycling, both activities surrounded this topic.
Early Years and Key Stage 1 recycled kitchen roll and toilet roll holders to make bird feeders. The teamwork and turn taking within this activity was outstanding. I am so proud of you all!! With our focus being recycling, we spoke about the importance of recycling both in school and home.
In the afternoon, Key Stage 2 created recycling posters to be displayed around school to encourage teachers to recycle properly, we then played recycling bingo! We had a conversation about how we can promote others to recycle too! ♻️
I am so excited to see what West house can achieve this year! 😊
West!! West!! West!! 🟢🟢🟢🟢

Faye's Fundraising Abseil
Faye and her mummy Mel just wanted to say a big thank you for supporting this year's charity event including the donations from staff members, it's very much appreciated.
Last time they checked they had raised around £500 which completely smashed the target of £150.
Faye showed no fear and volunteered herself first amongst a group of tentative adults! Literally jumping from 50ft and abseiling with no hands!
Thanks again!
Staff Shoutouts
Staff shoutouts are back for 24-25 and there's no better way of helping to keep our staff morale high than letting them know how you think.
Happy Staff + Happy Children = Happy Family.
If you can spare a minute or two to let someone know how great they are, it would be much appreciated, especially at this challenging time for us all. Thank you.
