Gwinnett’s four-year graduation rate is the highest in a decade
2026 Gwinnett County Teacher of the Year: Gwinnett selects semifinalists for district’s top honor
The field of teachers vying to become the 2026 Gwinnett County Teacher of the Year just got smaller as GCPS announced the names of the 25 semifinalists to be considered for the system’s top honor. The group of 9 elementary, 7 middle, and 9 high school teachers were selected from the initial list of 141 local school Teachers of the Year who were nominated by their colleagues at their local schools. On January 30, at 6:30 p.m., GCPS will host a banquet celebration honoring this year’s finalists and naming the top teacher in Gwinnett County.
Three GCPS counselors receive state honors
Three GCPS counselors have received state-level honors for their high achievements in writing, administration, and overall impact through counseling. Mi’esha Reynolds of Meadowcreek ES, Dr. Kassia Morris-Sutton of Norcross ES, and Dr. Heather Alvira in the Office of Counseling, College and Career Services were honored by the Georgia School Counselor Association (GSCA) through their annual Professional Recognition Awards.
GCPS Foundation receives state recognition as well
The Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) Foundation has been honored by the Georgia School Counselor Association as the 2024 GSCA Business Partner of the Year.
October is National Principals Month
GCPS recognizes its principals across all 142 learning communities! Principals lead their schools and support the success of each and every student and the Team GCPS educators in their buildings. Special thanks to each of these leaders for giving their best efforts on behalf of their schools!

Baking soda rockets are flying above elementary schools this October for World Space Week, October 4-10! Gwinnett County Public Schools and the GCPS Foundation are partnering with Arm & Hammer to support World Rocket Day!

The 2024 Book Mobile 5K and Fun Run is a family-friendly event taking place on Saturday, November 2. Since 2017, the program has provided more than 200,000 new books to Gwinnett children through 730 school and community visits. Register at bookmobile5k.com and join us at the ISC at 8 a.m.
