Our CHS We the People team competed in our district/regional competition on Saturday at Golden Valley High School. We swept all of the Unit Awards and finished first as a team in the 20th Congressional District. This is the 20th year in a row we have finished first in our Congressional District.

We ended up finishing 2nd overall in the region to Arvin for the first time since 2018 but have secured a wild card invitation to the state competition in February.

The December Coffee with the Principal will be this Thursday, December 12th, at 8:30am in the parent center.

THIS WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 11TH, is the last day for Dime Wars!!! Make sure you are bringing Dimes to your 3rd period class OR sabotage other classes by bringing pennies, nickels, quarters and dollar bills. All money collected on Tuesday will be used to buy Christmas presents for local elementary school students.

All boys interested in playing golf this year please plan on attending the informational meeting on Thursday Dec 12th in Rm 901 at lunch. The meeting will only take about 10 min. Please be on time.

KCSL will meet tomorrow morning (Dec 10th) at 8:30am in the Parent Center.

Attend the Ford Dream Builder Information Night on Monday, December 9th from 7:30 pm-8:15 pm at the Kern High School District Board Room at 5801 Sundale Ave.

Applications will go live on the Ford Dimension website on December 9th and will close Friday, January 10th at noon.

• Hey Seniors, the FAFSA applications are now open. We know the financial aid application process can be confusing, so we are here to help. We are hosting a Cash 4 College event, Tuesday December 10th from 5-7pm in the Library for you and your parents to attend. We will have experts here to help you through the financial aid process. We will also be raffling CHS SWAG for your parents, a few gift cards for you and as an ADDED BONUS, 2 lucky Seniors will be winning a ticket to Formal. You can Register to attend in the Career Center.

• Good News! The original CSU Apply deadline for Fall 2025 was December 2nd. However, CSUB extended their deadline through December 13th. CSUB Admission Counselors will be in the Career Center Tuesday 12/10 from 2nd to 4th period. If you would like to submit an application, please stop by.

• Hey Hawks! If any of you are looking for Volunteer opportunities we have a great one for you! Volunteer Big Kern is an annual event that gives you an opportunity to come together and make a lasting impact through service in your community. This year volunteers can complete several projects for nonprofits throughout Kern County. Lets come together and show the community how kind hawks are. This event will take place on January 10th, 2025. We will have sign ups for this event until this Friday 12/13/2024. Please see Mrs. Likens to register for this event.
