Character Trait of the Month: Acceptance
THREE WAYS TO TEACH YOUR CHILD ACCEPTANCE.
Your child is involved in learning activities during March that promote ACCEPTANCE. Naples Park students understand and accept differences in families, cultures, holidays, and traditions. Acceptance begins in the home when children understand that no matter what mistakes or poor decisions they have chosen, they are LOVED. Here are three ways to encourage your child to practice acceptance.
1. I SEE YOU: Be present with your child. Unplug from all electronics and take time to listen instead of talk. Love your child for who they are instead of who you want them to be.
2. LIGHT YOURSELF UP: Continue to LIGHT UP each time your child gets in the car or walks in the door from school. Unconditional love always rules.
3. BE AN UPLIFTER: Build your family up by seeing the good in each other. Everyone in your family has strengths and weaknesses, but choose to see strengths. Change happens when we build each other up instead of tear each other down.
4. MISTAKES ARE FOR LEARNING: Instead of reacting to problems in a loud way, help children to understand what they can learn from their mistake.
