Happenings Around the School
National FFA Convention
Last week 7 Red Lion Area FFA members attended the National FFA Convention. They toured Phipps Conservatory, Hunters Honey Farm, Columbus IN Municipal Airport, The Wilds, and the West Virginia State Penitentiary. While at the convention center students had the opportunity to speak with agriculture businesses and colleges. We also got to watch 2024 alum, Kennady Laird, who is currently serving as the PA FFA State FFA Sentinel, present the PA flag during the opening ceremony.
Thursday through Saturday proved to be less adventurous and followed our itinerary. If you are ever traveling through Ohio I highly recommend visiting the Wilds. Think Lake Tobias only much larger. While at the penitentiary we were locked in a cell for one minute. Our tour guide did an excellent job sharing with the students all of the many reasons to follow rules and laws to not end up in jail.
Ask the students for more details about their experiences!
Congratulations to the Junior class for their win during the Powder Puff game Wednesday night!
Halloween Fun around school!
Faculty and Staff dressed as Waldo for Halloween! Staff then voted who they thought the real Waldo was. Mr. Hewitt, Assistant Principal was revealed as the real Waldo!
Our cafeteria staff dressed as their favorite condiment!
Some of the teachers from the Tech-wing dressed the part for the "Dress Like Your Favorite Sports Player" Spirit Day!
Pawsitive Pal of the Week!
As a dedicated educator, Ms. Katherine White consistently demonstrates her commitment to our students' needs. She has proactively created new courses like nursing math to address specific student requirements. Beyond her classroom duties, Ms. White is an invaluable asset to the Red Lion community, always ready to lend a helping hand to colleagues, support students, and preserve our rich traditions.
In recent years, Ms. White has enthusiastically embraced leadership roles in NHS and Mini-THON, driving the organizations forward. Her recent success in coordinating a massive fundraiser for Cover Six Canines, raising over $2,000 in just a few days, is a testament to her dedication and organizational skills.
We are truly fortunate to have such a remarkable individual on our team. Ms. White's positive impact on our school is undeniable, and we are all grateful for her contributions. Thank you for being an exceptional educator and colleague, Ms. White!
P.R.I.D.E. Roar of Recognition
The Red Lion Senior High celebrated the successes of our students for the first marking period Friday, November 1st, 2024. This event, our Roar of Recognition, has been organized by our PRIDE committee, which strives to promote positive student behaviors by recognizing their Personable, Respectful, Integritous, Dependable, and Engaged actions.
Students who are in good standing will be rewarded with 30 minutes of time to engage in an activity of their choice. Activities include basketball, volleyball, badminton, yard games, video-games, watching a movie, or relaxing in the auditorium. Students that are in good standing will also receive a special treat during lunch.
We are so proud of all of our students’ accomplishments during the first quarter and are extremely excited to see what else they will achieve this year.

FFA Fruit and Butter Braid Sale
It's that time of year again, the FFA has started their annual Fruit Sale. We truly do appreciate your support each year. The money from this fundraiser is used for leadership conferences, skills events, and chapter bonding events.
Please use this link to see what delicious fruit and cheesecake we are selling this year. You can place your order directly on the website. Please use Red Lion Area FFA as the seller unless a member asks you directly. Prices are the same as last year.
We recognize that the quantity of fruit can be too much and have a $5 bag option of at least 6 pieces of fruit. Please use this link to order the $5 bags. The bags can be paid for at pick up.
We are also selling Butter Braid Pastries. These pastries come frozen and you thaw and bake them when you are ready. We tried samples of a few of the varieties and they are delicious! This was a huge success last year.
Online orders are due by November 17th with a delivery date of December 3rd. Pick up will be available from 3-5:30 on the 5th. Pick up will occur outside of the Tech Wing (by the track) at the Senior High. If you need to make a different arrangement, please let Krista Moser know. (moserkm@rlasd.net)
