Note from Dr. Mullenschlader
The season of Advent is here. As we prepare to receive Jesus at Christmas, we will be focusing on making a welcoming space for Jesus in our hearts. Even for adults, it can be a challenge to focus on Advent and not get caught up in Christmas. We teach the children that Advent is a beautiful time of prayer and teaches us all patience. We all need some time to clean our room before Christmas!
Our virtue of the month for December is kindness, which is the next building block for growing holier this year. Other Advent activities will include utilizing Hallow for Advent reflections, reciting the Angelus morning, noon, and each afternoon. Lastly, we have so many opportunities to celebrate with us. We have all school Masses December 1, December 8 at a special time of 10:00 AM, December 12th, December 15th (our November Virtue Recognition Mass), and December 21st. I sent an updated calendar on Monday morning and the dates are listed below.
One important reminder, if you are planning on volunteering for the Christmas parties on December 21st and you have not completed the Safe Environment: Prevent and Protect Training (Protecting God's Children), you have to complete it before the 21st. Any volunteer in our school has to complete this training. https://www.preventandprotectstl.org/

Virtue of the Month for December - Kindness
Kindness is expressing genuine concern for the well-being of others and anticipating their needs
St. Martine De Porres grew up in Peru in the sixteenth century. He became a Dominican brother and tended to the animals and completed the cooking. He was well known in the city for his kindness, especially to the poor.
adapted from Disciples of Christ: Education in Virtue
Prayer: Dear Jesus, You are kindness itself. I desire to show clarity toward my neighbor through my thoughts, words, and actions. When others meet me, let them meet YOU in me!
Scripture:
Genesis 24:14
Exodus 2:16-17
Deuteronomy 7:8-9
