MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Hello, Patriot Families!
I am thrilled to share the amazing learning happening throughout our building this week! From engaging classroom discussions to hands-on projects, our students are showing tremendous growth and dedication in their studies.
A special shout-out to our Study Squad every Thursday afternoon! This is a fantastic opportunity for students to stay after school and get extra help from our dedicated teachers. Whether it's completing missing assignments, working through tutorials, or simply getting caught up, Study Squad is here to support their success.
Thank you for your continued partnership in your child's education!
Warm regards,
Beth Craighead

HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH
The Hispanic Heritage observance began in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson and was expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to cover a 30-day period starting on September 15th and ending on October 15th. This national observance was enacted into law on August 17, 1988.
The months of September and October are significant for this celebration because it is the anniversary of various independence days for Latin American countries like Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and NIcaragua. Additionally, Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence days on September 16 and 18, respectively.
The theme of this year's Hispanic Heritage Month is "Pioneers of Change: Shaping the Future Together." During this month, announcements will include highlighting people and events related to this month.
ADVENTURE CAMP FOR 5TH GRADE
Dear Draper 5th Grade Families,
We’re really excited about Adventure Camp and can’t wait for our students to have a fantastic time. For those who choose not to attend Adventure Camp, we’ll be offering Draper Camp back at school, where students will enjoy a variety of fun and engaging activities.
Here are a few important details to help us get ready for the camp on October 7th:
- Student Forms: This year, we’ve made it easy by linking all necessary forms under the “Forms” section of August 30th post in ParentSquare titled "Adventure Camp". Please complete the Adventure Camp waiver, Behavior Agreement, Sack Lunch form, Medical Form, and Chaperone Interest Form by September 16th. This will help us organize cabins and ensure everything is set for camp.
- Payment: The cost for students is $170 and $120 for adult chaperones. You can pay by personal check made out to Draper Intermediate or through this link: If it’s easier, you can also use the following payment schedule:
- $60 by September 6th
- $60 by September 13th
- $50 by September 27th
- Medication: Please make sure any necessary medication is submitted to the school nurse by September 26th.
- Parent Chaperone Meeting: We’ll have a meeting for parent chaperones on September 26th at 6:30 PM in the Draper Cafeteria. We’ll reach out with more details once you’ve completed the Chaperone Interest Form.
- Dietary Requests can be made with Nurse Beth. She will contact Adventure Camp to support your needs. Please reach out to her at beth.thomas@wylieisd.net
We’re looking forward to a wonderful Adventure Camp experience and are here to help if you have any questions. Thanks for your support!
Please reach out to Assistant Principal, Holly Natonick (holly.natonick@wylieisd.net) if you have any questions

Students create a Unity Day themed poem or poster following the guidlines provided in this flyer. Entries will be judged, and the winners will be displayed throughout our campus.
DRAPER NEWS
Campus Tutorial Schedule
On Thursday afternoons, Study Squad is available from 3:30-5:00 in the cafeteria. Students can come to ask questions and get support of our professional staff on any learning for all content areas. It is also a time for students to complete missing or late work with the support of our teachers.
In an effort to have tutorial support for students each morning and afternoon, each team has a representative available from 7:45-8:15 and 3:30-4:15. The chart below shares who is available and when. Students can go to ANY session for support; they do not have to attend with their teacher.
