Hello, my name is Joseph Sotelo, proud principal of Hillcrest High School. Summer is ending and school will be starting very soon, it will be a different year, but we are going to make the best of it because we are resilient, we are united, and we are Hillcrest! With that said, I promise as reliable information becomes available, it will be communicated to families swiftly and effectively as possible.
So, what we know as of yesterday is that school will start virtually on Sept. 8th and stay online for four weeks. About two weeks after school starts, the school board will reevaluate our situation and plan next steps. Obviously, technology will play an important role in not only the next few weeks of your child’s learning environment, but most likely until their graduation and beyond. Fortunately, most students who attended a Dallas ISD school last year already have their Chromebook. If you have a Chromebook that does not work, please contact our IT department at 972-925-5630 and start the process for getting that taken care of.
For now, we are going to focus on continuing to make Sept 8 a great first day of school. With that said, we will be releasing our virtual Open House on September 3rd. The Open House presentation will consist of introductions to include the administration team, the counseling team, coaches, teachers, and all newly hired staff for ’20-’21 school year. The Open House presentation will address many of your wonderings and concerns. One advantage of having a virtual Open House will be the access to information. With a virtual open house, you’ll be able to review it as many times as needed to capture any information you seek.
