Your Schools, Your Bond
What's next?
Thanks to our incredible community, our school construction bond was approved in the February election! With 61.71% voter support, this investment in our schools will bring much-needed improvements, new learning spaces, and enhanced safety across the district.
Over the coming months and years, you'll see exciting progress on these projects. Here’s what’s happening now and what’s next:
Building for the future
To ensure projects are completed efficiently and cost-effectively, the district is selecting General Contractor/Construction Managers (GC/CM) for our new and modernized school facility projects. This approach—successfully used in the 2016 bond for Lake Stevens High School—allows the contractor to work closely with architects from the start, helping to shape designs, plan construction phases, and control costs.

Stay involved!
We’ll keep our community updated as these projects move forward. You can follow progress on our district website and social media, where we’ll share updates, construction photos, and opportunities for community input.
This bond is more than just buildings—it’s an investment in the success, safety, and future of our students. Thank you for your support!
Last day of school still being determined
Thank you for your patience as we navigate changes to our school calendar due to power outages and snow closures. Since districts are required to meet specific instructional minutes, we’re currently calculating which days will need to be made up. Then, a revised calendar will be presented to our Board of Directors for approval. We’ll make sure to keep you updated as soon as the new calendar is finalized.
Calendar update for April
Our board meeting dates for April have been adjusted to accommodate Spring Break. The Board of Directors will meet Wednesday, April 16 and Wednesday, April 30. Agendas and minutes are available on our website.
Kindergarten enrollment begins Thursday, March 20
Kindergarten enrollment for next school year begins Thursday, March 20! Enrollment packets are available on our website, at all elementary schools, and at the Educational Services Center.
Children must be five-years-old by Aug. 31, 2025 to enroll in kindergarten for the 2025-26 school year.
When enrolling your child, please bring:
- Completed enrollment packet;

- Proof of immunization; and
- Proof of residence in Lake Stevens School District.
Enrollment is limited to those students who live within school district boundaries.
Making the switch to Skyward Qmlativ this April
Our district is preparing for a major upgrade to our information system, transitioning from Skyward SMS 2.0 to Skyward Qmlativ (Q) this April. This new system will provide enhanced functionality for student information, payroll, finance, and human resources—improving efficiency and accessibility for families and employees.
The current Skyward system will be locked at 2 p.m. on April 2 with an anticipated Q launch date of April 14. During this time you won’t be able to use Family Access and you will not receive absence notifications or low balance alerts from Nutrition Services. We expect Family Access in Q to be available a couple weeks after our launch on April 14.
What this means for families
If you currently use Skyward Family Access to check grades, attendance, or other student information, you’ll soon be using Qmlativ. While the core functions will remain, Qmlativ offers a more user-friendly interface and improved tools to support your engagement with your student’s education.
If you already have the Skyward app installed on your mobile device, you’ll need to configure it for Q. Visit our website to get started, www.lkstevens.wednet.edu/q. There, you’ll find how-to guides and informative videos.
How we’re preparing
Since March 2024, our district teams—including Information Technology, Human Resources, and the Business Office—have been working behind the scenes to ensure a seamless migration. Staff members are receiving specialized training to navigate Qmlativ, and careful planning is underway to refine data, enhance security, and configure training tools.
What’s next?
We appreciate your patience and flexibility as we work through this transition. You can review more details and training resources on our Qmlativ Migration webpage.
This upgrade is an important step in improving our technology systems, and we’re excited about the benefits it will bring to our school community!
