The Infected, a Fictional Story
Submitted by: Mustafa A., 5th Grade
Mark was getting ready for Halloween but he was interrupted by the doorbell - ding dong! Then he heard something else too, HNNNGGG! JNNNGG! JNNNGG! He dashed downstairs to answer but instead of a person with a costume, he saw a horrifying man with a chainsaw! Little did Mark know this was one of the most spine-tickling days of his life.
Mark knew he was in trouble. So he quickly went around the very dangerous chainsaw and ran outside and he went into a haunted maze. He said, "Why am I so dumb? I went into a random huanted maze!” Then he heard some grunting noises. GRUNT, GRUNT, GRUNT. He went back and saw three bloody zombies. He fought bravely and won the intense battle. “Whew, that was a close call. Good thing I did karate. Maybe I should get out of here, and FAST!” Eventually he found his way out and into the Forbidden Forest. Mark was about to find a giant CLUE!
Mark was slowly going into the forest and he heard water boiling and saw smoke coming from a fire. He decided that he could take shelter there and he cautiously walked there. But he saw a bad witch near the smoke. The witch had taken that spot! He slowly walked toward the witch. Very slowly. But he accidentally broke a twig. Snap. “Oops.” he whispered. Too late, the witch had heard him. Then the witch smacked him with her cane. “So, you’re one of the survivors.” Mark said, “Survivors?” As soon as he said that, a giant booby trap came and it took Mark and the witch. They were taken to a science lab and they were trying to listen to the evil scientist. He said, “Infect everyone you see. I'll take care of these two.” Mark was so scared that he blacked out. You could not imagine what happened next to Mark and the witch.
The witch told Mark about how he was a lucky survivor and the witch was half survivor and half infected. Just then the furious and evil scientist came. He tested them. After a few long and hard hours he left the room to study the results. As soon as he left the room Mark found the guards talking. They were not paying attention! Then he remembered he had a clip for holding his costume together when he ripped it. He used it to cut the rope and he also cut the witch's rope that tied their hands together. They dashed out through the air vent... they had escaped! But they were not all done yet. They went into the forest and went to find the cure. They used hundreds of ingredients until they had the cure. Yes, they were done! But how would they hand it out? They used the school sprinklers. Yes, the monsters were cured! Monsters turned into happy dancing people.
Mark was so happy he could cry! He was the town hero and he was awarded Man of the Year! He was dancing with delight. Two months later still, no one forgot about him. He was even on the world news! Almost every day, everyone thanked him. He wasn’t even a target for bullying. He was having the time of his life.

The Not So Scary Scarecrow
Original Painting and story Created by Emily R., 4th Grade
Hi, I am a scarecrow but some people call me the Not So Scary Scarecrow because I do not scare crows. I try my best, but I just can’t. I think that I am not scary because a little girl named Mary made me. Now how did she make me not scary? Well here’s the story.
Once upon a time there was a little girl named Mary. The crows kept eating her corn. “Sweetheart, do you wants to make a scarecrow,?" Mary’s father asked? “Yes!" Mary said happily. So, her father gathered hay, fabric, and buttons.
Then I came alive in a corn field, but the crows kept eating the corn. And that’s the story. Wait... you want more! Okay then, let’s go live. So, Mary is walking by me right now. She just remembered! “Oh it’s a scarecrow!” Mary yelled. "Yuck, a pink and purple scarecrow!" Whoops, looks like she does not remember me, sorry. Oh, she is bringing me inside to redecorate me!
Now I look like a normal scarecrow and I scare crows!

Mr. Randle got the band back together... virtually!
Mr. Randle is excited to share the project that many of his 5th Grade Band Class recorded!
While they all miss being in band class in person, they are still finding fun and creative ways to share their talents with the community.
Mr. Randle writes, "Thank you to all for supporting instrumental music. Each student's musical talent is limitless and it is quite remarkable that we have only been playing for a little over a year! So much progress!"
