Attention Homeschool Families
Equitable Services for Students With Disabilities
Springdale Public Schools is dedicated to providing timely, meaningful, and ongoing consultation regarding the right for homeschooled families to access special education services for children with disabilities, in their school district.
It is the policy of the Arkansas State Board of Education that school districts provide a genuine opportunity (see 34 C.F.R. Sec. 76.651(a)) to students with disabilities who are home schooled, as defined in state regulations, to access special education and related services from the district where they reside. This policy is not to be construed as conferring the procedural protections and rights under Part B of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) to such students and their parent/guardians.
If your child is being homeschooled and you believe that they may need special education services or if you have questions about Springdale Schools providing special education services for homeschooled children, you are invited to attend a consultation meeting that will allow for collaborative discussions regarding equitable services for eligible homeschool students.
Meetings will be held at the Special Education Building. If you have any questions, please contact
