October 2024
A message from our Executive Director of Special Services, Dr. Staley
November is upon us and as we prepare for a change in season, my hope is that our families enjoyed the end of October with all the fun activities on all campuses. A big thank you goes out to our teachers and staff who worked hard to help provide a fun environment for our students and families.
We have a lot to be grateful for here in the Special Services Department. We have a wonderful, caring staff from our custodians, our paraprofessionals, our office staff, and all of our fantastic teachers and service providers. I know I am grateful every day for the opportunity to work with all of them and I know your children are in good hands.
We have a supportive community with wonderful and giving parents, to which we all say thank you for all that you do! Finally, we have incredible students, who challenge themselves every day to learn and be engaged. They are why we are here every day!
You make my role as the director a joy through your commitment to your children and our department. I wish you a wonderful month of November and a wonderful Thanksgiving. As we continue into the fall season, we will have a lot of upcoming important events.
Please pay particular attention to our Calendar of Events listed at https://www.ccisd.net/specialservices. More events will be added as we continue to collaborate with you and find out what your needs are.
Remember that We Are Here For You!!!
I also wanted to share this survey link. A component of the cyclical monitoring process is to gather stakeholder feedback about an LEA, both internal and external, on the provision of special education instruction and related services. During the initial cyclical monitoring conference with the Texas Education Agency (TEA), we reviewed this information. Attached is the link and information to the survey that can now be distributed to stakeholders.
Our number is 084910.

National School Psychology Week (NSPW) is November 11-15, 2024
School psychologists are members of the school team that support students’ ability to learn and teachers’ ability to teach. We apply expertise in mental health, learning, and behavior to help children and youth succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. As school psychologists, we provide direct support and interventions to students. In CCISD, we spend much of our time guiding staff through the Student Support Team (SST) process and completing important evaluations for special education services. We also consult with families, teachers, and other educators to improve school-wide practices and policies and consult with teachers and staff about our learners’ unique academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs.
Helping Students Spark Discovery
This year’s theme for NSPW is “Spark Discovery”. As caregivers and educators, we share the goal of helping children thrive in school, at home, and in life. This includes exploring new ideas, celebrating their strengths, and encouraging them to persevere when things get tough. Working together, we can support students’ sense of learning and discovery through these formative years. Join us by taking this week to embark on a journey of discovery and explore how each person can join us in our mission of helping children thrive in school, at home, and in life. There are many ways caregivers can help children take on new challenges, learn new skills, and feel safe and valued. You can:
- Encourage your child to pursue new ideas and to map out a plan. As a parent, you can help them see what the small steps are and how overcoming obstacles is a part of their journey.
- Help them work through setbacks or lack of confidence by helping them identify negative thoughts that may suggest concerns about their ability to be successful.
- Praise attempts, as well as success, and make sure that you focus on the effort put in to boost their strengths.
- Demonstrate ways to explore new opportunities and learn about a variety of topics, letting them know that you, too, are learning new things and expanding your universe.
- Celebrate diversity and model how to accept others as they are. Take steps with your child to actively learn about others who are different from you.
Thank you for supporting school psychologists in Clear Creek ISD!
