House Reveal
House of Collaborators and Communicators
Meet the members of the House of Collaborators and Communicators The House of Collaborators and Communicators shares ideas and respects everyone’s voices. Members of this house work together to accomplish their goals, build relationships, and listen to one another. They believe that two heads are better than one, which is why they selected the two-headed dragon as their house animal.
The House of Global Citizens
The House of Global Citizens aims to become actively engaged in our local and global communities. They strive to build global awareness with care, humanity, and respect for all. The horse was chosen as their symbol because it embodies these qualities; when given care and respect, horses provide support through sport and transportation. Horses are strong, determined animals that also show a gentle side.
To reach out to their communities, the House of Global Citizens will exemplify determination and compassion. They are establishing a spirit of outreach and support for one another. They believe that together, we can make a difference!
The House of Golden Ideas
The House of Golden Ideas is designed to empower both staff and students to become "golden" thinkers. Our members will harness their skills to develop into Critical Thinkers and Creative Thinkers. This house was founded on the belief that everyone CAN DO HARD THINGS!
Members of the House of Golden Ideas will cultivate qualities such as flexibility, engagement, persistence, alertness, open-mindedness, innovation, and creativity. They are represented by the owl, an animal known for its wisdom. Owls are observant, big thinkers who are always exploring possibilities in the world around them.
These owls can’t wait to share their wisdom with the world!
The House of Quality Character
The House of Quality Character focuses on building integrity through acts of service, honesty, and self-care. In this house, students and staff demonstrate empathy for others while also cultivating self-confidence. They strive to maintain a positive attitude and outlook in every situation they encounter.
The House of Quality Character is represented by the bear. The bear symbolizes not only strength and resilience but also comfort with its soft and fuzzy nature. Our house signal is the bear hug, which helps us connect with one another and show that we care.
We can’t wait for each member of our house to inspire trust in others and believe in themselves every day!
House Shirts are available to be purchased for $15.00.

Alabama Literacy Act
Being a skillful reader is critical for a student’s overall success throughout school and in life. All students in grades K-3 are administered a state-approved reading screener (AimsWeb Plus) a minimum of three times a year. This screener provides teachers with individual student strengths and deficiency areas to assist with reading instruction and intervention plans.
According to the Alabama Literacy Act, “Commencing with the 2023-2024 school year, third-grade students shall demonstrate sufficient reading skills for promotion to fourth grade. A student scoring at the lowest achievement level in reading on the current state assessment for third grade will not be promoted to fourth grade unless the student meets a good cause exemption for promotion.”
If your child has been identified as having a deficiency in reading in one or more of the following areas: Letter Naming Fluency, Correct Letter Sounds, Nonsense Word Reading, Oral Reading Accuracy, Comprehension, Vocabulary or Sight Word Fluency OR exhibits characteristics of dyslexia, a Student Reading Improvement Plan, or “SRIP” will be developed to ensure that we all work together to help your child progress in reading skills to prevent retention.
Listed below is a variety of resources supporting your child’s reading at Home in grades Kindergarten through 2nd grade. Please click or go to the following links to access resources in the reading categories listed below:
