If you haven't signed up for your child's Parent-Teacher Conference yet, you still have time before you lose your "Parent of the Year Award". :) We make it a goal to meet with every student's parent/guardian. If you forget, you may get a friendly reminder email or call directly from your child's teacher.

Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on Monday, November 25th from 8 AM to 8 PM and Tuesday, November 26th from 8 AM to 12 Noon

Conference Sign-up opens this Monday, October 14th at 7 AM and closes on Friday, November 22nd at Midnight.

• All Fall Parties and the Costume Parade will take place on Oct. 31st.

• The Costume Parade will start at 1:45 PM, followed by classroom parties.

• Parents are welcome to come and observe the costume parade. After finding a parking spot, make your way around to the back of the school near the playground. When the parade starts, all participating students will walk with their classroom teacher past the parent area that will be marked off with cones.

• New Info: We strongly encourage parents not to take their children home early when they leave after the costume parade or classroom party. What seems like a simple act to save a few minutes, can "Jam Up" our front office on this very busy day. Let them ride the bus home or pick your student up like normal. Of course, if you need to pick them up early we can certainly accommodate your needs.

• Each Classroom Teacher, along with Room Parents, organize and plan a fun celebration of hard work and learning. Please do not send your student to school with extra food or treats. The teacher ensures that all food is safe and complies with any health or allergy needs in the classroom.

• Costume Guidelines:

• Students should not wear their costumes to school. They will change before the parade.

• Students must be able to put their own costume/makeup on without assistance.

• No masks of any kind may be worn.

• No costumes and/or make-up may be worn that depicts blood and/or violence.

• Students are not to bring anything that resembles a weapon of any fashion, even if it is part of a costume.

• No bare midriffs or scant clothing.

• Students whose families choose not to celebrate Halloween are encouraged to come to school that day. We will have a fun alternative learning activity organized for them in the STREAM Lab!

This family friendly event is sponsored by the CUSD 303 District Title I Advisory Committee for families at Anderson Elementary, Davis Primary School, Richmond Intermediate School and Munhall Elementary School. Parents and guardians are invited to participate in a session in which the elementary math curriculum and Eureka Math resource will be explained. This hands-on session will focus on how elementary math is taught in the district and how parents and guardians can support math at home. While the adults are busy learning in their session, students will be making and playing math games that can be used at home. Families will come together for pizza and to share what they have learned in the sessions and participate in more fun math activities.

We are excited and privileged to honor all Veterans this coming November 11th. Each student will have the opportunity to participate in a meaningful Veteran's Day Assembly here at school. They will meet and hear from local veterans as well as be able to show their thankfulness and respect. Stay tuned for more information coming home this week. Of course, let's all wear Red, White, and Blue on November 11th!

Get your costumes ready for our Spooktacular Event next Friday, October 25th. Our event will take place from 5:30-8:00 PM at Anderson. The event will feature spooky games, ghoulish crafts, monster sized food, and a photo booth to capture a picture of your creative costumes. Pre-ordering your night is highly recommended. Entry fee is $3 per school aged child. Informational flyers with pre-ordering information went home this week and can be found here. (In case your little monster forgot to bring it home) We are also looking for brave volunteers to help with the event. We need help with set up, watching the little monsters play some ghoulish games, feeding the little monsters and their frightful families, selling raffle tickets and let’s not forget the scary crafts and pumpkin walk! If you can’t help at the event, then we do have another not so scary job. You can donate to baked good for the pumpkin walk or some Fun Size candy bags for our Spooktacular prizes. Even though Box Tops has gone digital they are still accepting the "old school" clipped versions. If you still have paper box tops please make sure to submit them by Friday, October 25th so we can get them counted and in before the fall deadline. A special thanks to Girl Scout Troop 456 for count and sorting all our clippings. Don't forget to keep scanning your receipts to submit the new digital box tops. So our school has earned almost $50 in two months. Let's keep scanning!

The Salvation Army’s annual Jim Wheeler Toys for Kids program is once again in full swing. This program, which collects and distributes toys for the needy boys and girls of the Tri-City area, is celebrating its 36th year. The program has been named in honor of the late Jim Wheeler who was the creator and driver behind this effort.

Once again, we are asking for your support of this program for children at Christmas time. We are looking for new unwrapped toys and games and also will be accepting monetary contributions and gift cards to help make this Christmas a very special one. Click below for the flyer.
