Walnut Avenue School Community
October 18, 2024
Dear Walnut Avenue School Families,
Happy Friday! Wow! It was a FUN FRIDAY at WAS!
- Check out the PTA Fundraiser / Fun Run & Slime Day below :)
- CLICK HERE for our MyBooster.com Fundraiser - There is still time to donate :)
It was an amazing week at WAS! We celebrated Unity Day on Wednesday and our LASER Assembly! The dazzling laser light show from Prismatic Magic’s Lasermania introduced the students to the awesomeness of laser light. Students were whisked away on a roller coaster of astounding animations, set to positive, upbeat music that had students singing and moving to the music. Thank you to our PTA!
Next week begins PEACE WEEK - See the calendar below or CLICK HERE for the WAS Webpage Calendar for PEACE WEEK Days :)
Be sure to check out our Classroom Happenings section this week. It is fun to give families a look inside the classroom to see the learning and the excitement that the teachers and staff bring to the classroom, engaging students both inside and outside of the classroom setting.
Please take time to read through this week's newsletter and reach out if you have any questions.
Enjoy the weekend!

📝 Ms. Cohen's 1st Grade Writers 📝
In 1st grade, students have been learning about the structure or skeleton of a sentence.
This week the students of Ms. Cohen's class made their own skeletons and wrote sentences about the skeleton to apply what they have learned. The students practiced using capital letters and end marks. Each sentence has a subject and an action.
This week they learned that they can have compound subjects using the connector word “and.”
Applying Our Knowledge of the “Skeleton of a Sentence”
