Determining Interest: Girls on the Run
Hello 3rd, 4th and 5th grade families,
Exciting news: Girls on the Run is coming to Highland Park Elementary! Girls on the Run is an afterschool program that uses the power of running to prepare 3rd - 5th grade girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living. Over the course of the 10-week, 20-lesson season, girls learn life-changing lessons about healthy friendships, teamwork, decision-making, self-respect and more, all while preparing to run a 5k. Open to all 3rd - 5th grade girls and non-binary/gender expansive youth; no previous running experience required, and generous financial aid is available. Our season will be each Tuesday & Thursday 2:10 - 3:40 p.m. from March 28 - June 4, culminating with the Girls on the Run 5K the first weekend in June. If you child is interested in participating, please fill out this form in order to receive more information about the program.
We are also recruiting coaches for this spring. We must have at least three coaches in order to offer the program. You do not need to be a runner; you simply need to have a desire to support and encourage the next generation. Coaches receive all the tools and support they need and find that they get as much out of coaching as they give. If you have any questions about coaching, please contact Tracey Lindfors at traceylindfors@gmail.com. You can sign up to be a coach at the Girls on the Run website if you have time either Tuesday or Thursdays (or both days) from 2:00 - 3:45 pm.
Sincerely,
Tracey Lindfors
