April’s Principal Experience with the 5th Grade Team
This month’s Principal Experience was hosted by our fantastic 5th grade team, and it was a colorful success! Students who earned the opportunity to participate joined the 5th grade teachers for a fun-filled tie-dye activity.
The students had a blast getting creative with their designs and walking away with a wearable memory of their accomplishment. A huge thank you to our 5th grade team for planning and leading this hands-on experience. Their time and energy made this a memorable celebration for our students!
Congratulations to Our Salk Volleyball Teams!
We are proud to celebrate both the Salk A and Salk B volleyball teams for their strong performance this season in the District Elementary Volleyball League. While Salk didn’t bring home a trophy this year, both teams demonstrated teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship. The Salk A team made it all the way to the championship game, while the Salk B team competed in the 3rd and 4th place match. Great job to all of our student-athletes on a successful season!
Congratulations to Our Salk Football Team!
Congratulations to the Salk Elementary football team for an outstanding season! This past week, the team brought home the District Elementary Football Trophy for the second year in a row. With a perfect undefeated record, our athletes showed incredible teamwork, determination, and school spirit all season long.
We are so proud of their hard work and sportsmanship on and off the field. Way to go, Salk! Let’s keep the streak going!
Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week
On behalf of the entire staff, I want to extend our heartfelt thanks to each of you for the outpouring of kindness, thoughtful notes, and generous gifts during Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week. Your words of encouragement and gestures of appreciation truly mean the world to us.
It is a privilege to work with such a supportive community and to teach students who bring joy, curiosity, and energy to our classrooms every day. Thank you for making us feel so valued and celebrated — your thoughtfulness has reminded us just how lucky we are to be a part of this incredible school family.
Our Salk 4th Grade Market Day Was a HUGE Success!
Our 4th-grade students at Salk Elementary recently participated in a fantastic hands-on learning experience during our annual Market Day! As part of their economics unit, students were challenged to create a good and/or service to sell to our 3rd-grade classes for $1 in play money. Each 3rd grader was given $10 to spend—and they had a blast doing it!
The creativity from our 4th graders was truly impressive! From homemade stress balls and unique jewelry to mini sports lessons and caricatures, students put their entrepreneurial skills to the test. They learned all about product development, marketing, customer service, and managing their profits.
We even received glowing feedback from our 3rd-grade students and teachers, as well as visiting staff from FHS Career Programs who helped make the day extra special. It was a wonderful way for students to explore the world of economics while having fun.
Thank you to the high school CTE team for working with both our third grade and fourth grade classes to make the event a success. Students learned a lot and enjoyed the event. The smiles, cool products, and pockets full of play money made it clear—Salk’s Market Day was a total hit! 💵😊🎉
FYC AND RMS SHOW CHOIR TOUR
Last Friday the Fraser Youth Choir & RMS Show Choir visited Salk. They performed for grades 4-6 and sounded GREAT! It was a pleasure to see some of our former Seahawks too.
District Art Show
This past week, the district hosted its annual Art Show, showcasing incredible student talent from across the area. Congratulations to the students selected to represent Salk Elementary in this year’s exhibit! The event featured a wide variety of creative and inspiring pieces, and our Salk students were proud contributors to a show filled with exceptional artwork. Great job to all involved!
M-STEP Testing is Complete!
Great Job Students and Staff! We have completed our M-STEP testing!

Canvas- Parent Access
All Fraser classroom teachers provide instruction, resources, activities, and assessments to students utilizing the Canvas LMS. As a result, students have continuous access to the course materials and information regarding their achievement.
Parents/Guardians can also have continuous access to their student’s course materials and grades in Canvas by creating a parent/observer account. In addition, parents of multiple students can easily switch between their students to view grades and assignments within the same parent account.
All sign up information and resources are provided on the Fraser website.
Important reminders when using Canvas:
- Canvas works best in Chrome
- Please do not install the Canvas app (for parents or students). We are not supporting it as our staff and students are utilizing the web-based version of Canvas and it looks and works differently.
- If you signed up and paired with your students last year, you still have access to those students and their new courses this year.
- If you need to add more students to your account this year, please follow the directions provided below.
- If you have forgotten your password, you can use the Forgot Password? link on the parent sign in page. Then, enter the email address you used to set up the account to receive a password reset email.
- If you have forgotten the email you used, please reach out to Kim Keith, Kimberly.keith@fraserk12.org, for additional assistance.
Downloadable directions are linked below. In addition, helpful videos and walk-throughs may be found linked HERE.
Charlie the Therapy Dog
Charlie has made visits to Salk the last couple of years with great success. Students are happy to see him and he really brightens the mood. Charlie will make his next visit in two weeks.
Charlie's purpose is to ease student's anxieties and increase positive emotions. We do not want his presence to cause fear or anxiety. As a reminder, parents have the ability to opt out of having their student interact with Charlie. If you DO NOT want your student to be around Charlie, then please fill out the opt out form linked here.
For the safety of students with allergies and Charlie, he will not be in the lunch room. Charlie will also remain out of classrooms in which parents have a student who opt out. Charlie will be under my supervision and kept on a leash at all times.
Rules for Interacting with Charlie:
Use calm bodies and inside voices when around Charlie.
Always ask before petting Charlie.
Don't take food around Charlie/feed Charlie
Free Meals for All
Although not required, we do ask that families complete the Education Benefit Form located HERE. By doing so you help ensure the school receives additional funding.
