2025 February Edition
Message from Principal Rowell
We are well into the swing of second semester. The beginning of a new semester indicates that students get a new start to put their best effort forth. Students are encouraged to make every moment count, to use their time wisely and to connect with teachers for additional academic support.
Last week, we celebrated National School Counseling Week. At Kohler we are very fortunate to have amazing school counselors. Their strong work ethic and commitment is evidenced by the high quality support they provide to meet the academic, and social emotional needs of all our students. In addition, their advocacy for their profession and the service they provide is admirable.
For the month of February, the middle school is participating in a Kindness Challenge. The goal is for students to complete 2,000 acts of kindness, and to make a Kindness Chain. If this goal is met, all middle school students will have a celebration. Feel free to share some ideas of kindness with your child. Our MS PBIS Quarter 3 goals is: That students wear their ID/lanyards all day, every day, upon entering the school building. Our students in 6th grade have been doing a phenomenal job and are leading the way with a 91 cumulative percentage of students wearing their lanyards.
Current students in 8th grade and their families are invited to the Rising Freshman Informational Night. This is scheduled for Wednesday, February 19, 2025, from 5:00pm-6:00pm in the Kohler Memorial Theatre. We look forward to sharing information about academics, athletics, activities and will be happy to answer questions, as your child prepares for that next step.
If we can be of any assistance to assist your child(ren) during semester 2, please reach out to your child's teachers, our school counselors, school nurse, attendance office, activities/athletic director or myself. We are here to support and help.
Regards,
Natasha Rowell, Principal

WORLD LANGUAGE DEPARTMENT
A Cultural Experience
Recently, the 6th grade Spanish class learned about three holidays: Christmas, Three Kings Day and Candlemas, three Christian traditions that are common in Latin America since a majority of people are Catholic.
Since most families in Latin America do not have fireplaces, it is common practice to put shoes on the window sills to receive little gifts on Three Kings Day like many do in the United States with stockings on Christmas.
Students learned about the tradition in Mexico of eating a Rosca Cake ("Kings Cake") which has little baby Jesus figurines baked inside. The tradition is that the people that find a figurine need to provide the tamales for the feast on February 2nd - Candlemas, which is the day that Jesus was presented at the temple for the first time.
In celebration of all the information they learned about, the students brought shoes in for little gifts and got to try authentic tamales.

The End is Near
It seems like just yesterday we were tipping off the first games of the winter season. Now, we are starting to wrap up the winter season and in a few short weeks the regular season will be officially over.
I have been fortunate enough to be a part of a lot of memorable seasons and a lot of great moments in sports as a player, coach, and athletic director, but I think this winter season has been one of the most memorable for me. From the Joe Wolf ceremony to kick off the boys basketball season, to the girls basketball team having one of their best seasons in a long time. It has been a special year so far and while the end of the winter season is near we still have the playoffs on the horizon, and I have a feeling there will be a lot more memorable moments to finish off this season.
Girls Basketball
The girls basketball team continues to have a lot of success this season. They are currently 11-8, and are fourth in one of the best conferences in the state. At the time of writing this post, they have five games remaining before they move onto the playoffs. They will get their playoff seed in the coming days and will be a tough team to face in the playoffs. Best of luck to the team as they wrap up the regular season!
Boys Basketball
The boys basketball team is currently 17-3 and is tied for second in one of the toughest conferences in the state. They are coming off a major win at Fiserv Forum against Lake Mills who was the number two ranked team in D3. That game ended with the shot of the season when Carter Zimmermann made a perfect pass to Max Breitenbach who made the buzzer beating basket. The team has three games remaining including a matchup against Sheboygan Lutheran who is the second ranked team in D5. Best of luck to the team as they finish up the last few games of the season!
Upcoming Games and Sportsmanship Reminder
Below are the upcoming home games as well as a link with all the details. As a friendly reminder, everyone that attends the game is expected to be in the gym during the game. As always, please let the coaches coach, officials officiate, and players play.
As we near the start of the playoffs and what should be good competition and great games, please refrain from yelling negative comments at officials, players, and coaches. Cheer proud, and loud for our Blue Bomber athletes and coaches, and support the officials. Without the officials, we will not be able to play sports, so if you happen to see an official thank them for their time, and do not criticize them for having to make tough calls. Any home or away spectator that chooses to yell at officials, coaches, or players in a negative fashion may be removed from the gym, and banned from future contests.
For the safety of everyone there should be no kids running around unsupervised during the game. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter to help keep everyone safe while watching the Blue Bombers play.

Join the Sheboygan Falls/Kohler Co-Op Softball Team
If you are interested in playing softball this year, or have any questions about the sport please email Coach Bailey at sbailey@sheboyganfalls.k12.wi.us. All skill levels are welcome to join! Below is a message from Coach Bailey.
Do you want to have fun and learn a new game? Come join the Sheboygan Falls softball team!
Hi, I’m Sam Bailey, the new Sheboygan Falls softball coach. I’ve played softball my whole life and pitched in college, breaking multiple records along the way. Throughout my time on the field, I’ve also ran pitching lessons, coached players of all ages, and attended multiple Division 1 college softball camps picking up skills and coaching techniques. All this has led me to coaching the athletes this year at Sheboygan Falls.
This season, we are learning a lot and working to build a successful program by getting a little better every day. The players are improving quickly and are starting to learn how to make some pretty awesome plays in the game. I asked them at practice the other day what people should know about the experience of being a part of this team and they said, ‘We laugh a lot.’ I’m so excited for this season and know we are going to have a lot of fun while also creating a future for kids growing up who wish to join an outstanding program some day.
The only problem? We’re low on athletes. If you have any interest in learning the game for the first time or jumping back into a sport you may have played growing up, you have a spot on this team waiting for you! We’re 100% inclusive to all athletes eligible to join a female sport, even if you’ve never played. The current team is awesome and works every day to support each other.
If you’ve never played a sport before and are wondering why I want you to come join us, that’s simple. I love this game and I love creating a community where people can come together, learn skills (softball mechanics, communication, thinking on your feet, information retention, studying situations in real time), and most importantly: Have fun while doing it. I can’t begin to describe the life skills I’ve learned throughout my time being an athlete. In my everyday life, I’m incredibly grateful for all the lessons I learned on the field. I hope I can also pass some of those on to you.
Right now, we are right at the beginning of the games section of the season. We will play about 10 games this season between now and mid-May and practice every weekday. On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays we practice from 3:30-6:00 and on Wednesdays we practice from around 4:00-6:30. That being said, if you are interested in joining and can’t make all those practices or times, please still reach out! We would love to have you and are more than willing to accommodate players in any way we can. We are all about learning and growing this year, and that includes flexibility!
If you are interested (or just have questions!), please email me at sbailey@sheboyganfalls.k12.wi.us. I hope to meet some of you soon!

The YA coach accompanied students who showed an interest in mechanical and electrical engineering to observe professionals at Viking Masek in Oostburg. During this experience, students gained insights into the various responsibilities that engineers undertake on a daily basis. Job shadowing serves as an excellent opportunity for students to explore potential career paths they may wish to follow in the future.
