The Dolphin Whistle

A MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL SALCIDO
Dear Castro Dolphin families,
Thank you to all our Dolphin families for responding to the Covid Pool testing Survey! Castro was the first school in all of MVWSD that had a 100% response rate!! Thank you for showing your Dolphin Pride and helping us complete this important task.
As September comes to a close, I find myself working on the Castro Single Plan for Student Achievement or SPSA. This important plan is where the school personnel and all stakeholders--parents, teachers, district staff--make it a priority to review the Student Achievement Data, reflect on what the data is telling us, and make decisions on what actions and supports to fund so that Castro students get all they need to maximize their academic potential. In California, we believe that it is essential to engage all stakeholders in the SPSA process to create a united vision for Castro and so that the Castro SPSA is the best it can be!
As we do this, many things are coming up that will influence how Castro school will support our students. We all have our part in the Dolphin Way System of Support and all of us will need to grow and learn how we can support each other and our students with their education. As a community we will have to think deeply and think differently about the patterns at Castro. We will have to reflect if we want those patterns to continue, to be strengthened, or to be extinguished. Make sure to join us at our SSC, ELAC, Principal Coffee meetings where we will be continuously doing this work.
When I work with students, I demand a growth mindset where “I can’t do it” is replaced with “I can’t do it yet!” I am asking the same of our Castro families and stakeholders. We must focus on growth and the idea that we are still developing and learning. We can do everything!! We just can’t do everything, yet!
Sincerely,
Mr. Salcido
