Join Us for the Pumpkin Parade on October 31
Pumpkin Parade: The parade will begin at 2:15pm on Thursday, October 31 in the circle of our school driveway. Grade levels will take turns marching around the circle and back of the school. There will be designated areas for parent viewing. You are welcome to join us in being festive but please do not wear masks or costumes where you cannot be identified. Please join us on the blacktop after the parade for a surprise performance!
The driveway will be closed as of 1:45pm and will not re-open until the parade is over.
Costumes and Attire: Students may dress in orange and black, costumes, or any fall inspired attire. Costumes are not required for the parade. Please avoid scary masks or costumes that may frighten young children. We want this day to be enjoyable for all of our students. Please do not send children to school with any accessories that resemble a weapon.
Costumes worn to school should allow students to participate in the regular school day (including recess, lunch, and using the bathroom). Any accessories or costume masks should be kept in backpacks or bags until it is time for the parade. Please no full face make up during the school day.
Students may also wear clothing that will fit under their costume and bring the costume to school. We are asking that students be prepared to independently put on their costumes over their clothing. Costumes should be labeled and packed in backpacks or bags.
The PTA will not be hosting a Costume Shop this year. Families in need of costumes can contact our school Social Worker, Stephanie Edwards.
Pick Up Grades 1-5: We always encourage that our students complete a full day of school. If you need to pick up your child early immediately following the event, please use the guidelines below.
- · Use Pick Up Patrol to record that your child will be dismissed early from the Pumpkin Parade and identify the name of the pick-up person.
- · Edit the pick-up in PUP to early dismissal by the evening of Wednesday, October 30. Late or incorrect entries will not be honored at the event.
- · Students who have been identified for early dismissal from the event will bring their belongings out to the parade and be ready to be dismissed.
- · Locate the staff member that is supporting your class with the sign out sheet. Please do not have any new people picking up your child that day as they may be asked to report to the office for an identification check.
- · Parents with siblings must sign each student out from their grade level.
- · If the early dismissal is not noted in PUP, the pick-up person is different than the name entered in PUP, or the pick-up person does not have an ID, you will be asked to report to the main office for assistance with dismissal.
- · Students will not be dismissed from the office until the event is over and all classes have returned inside.
*Kindergarten parents will receive a separate communication from your child’s teacher regarding costume guidelines and dismissal procedures for that day.

October's Color of the Month is Pink
The Color of the Month for October is Pink! Pink can represent kindness, love, or shyness. Throughout the month, students will learn about these emotions and participate in activities that support wellness. Students will incorporate pink themes into body, heart, and mind activities. We ask families to join us by considering activities, crafts, or healthy snacks at home that can be used to promote wellness as we celebrate October! Check out a list of pink foods that you can try during this month. Thanks to the Staff and PTA Wellness Committees for facilitating this initiative!
