SEQUOYAH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Greetings from Mrs. Gabriel
Hello!
Our CLP students participated in their first Track and Field Day at Dakota High School. They each participated in three events and competed against other CLP students in the district. They did an amazing job and had tons of fun. It was a great day!
As you may have heard, Ms. Debbie and Ms. Sally are retiring this year. These ladies have been the co-directors of SACC since the building opened. We are looking for a SACC director for next year and would love it was someone connected to our Sequoyah community. If you are interested, please apply here. Think you don't have the credentials? Don't sweat! For the right candidate, we will help support getting you everything you need for the job!
We also had the opportunity to recognize two incredible staff members in their retirement this year. As you may have heard, Mrs. Blackwell and Mrs. Collar are retiring at the end of the school year. These ladies (Ms. Debbie and Ms. Sally included) have been at Sequoyah since the building opened. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your years of service and dedication to the students and Sequoyah community. This place is wonderful because of amazing people like you! Congratulations on your retirement and please don't be strangers!
Next week, we have the first and third grade spring concert on Monday. Kindergarten Kickoff on Tuesday. 5th Grade pictures on Wednesday. Whew! Lots of good stuff coming up.
Don't forget to RSVP for the volunteer breakfast below!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Spring Spirt Week: May 20-24
24-25 Student Placement Form
At Sequoyah, we strive to create a strong partnership with families to help all children learn and become successful members of the community. The Sequoyah staff will soon begin the process to create class lists for the 2024-2025 school year.
There are a number of factors taken into consideration when placing students into various classes for the upcoming school year. These factors include student academic skills, academic assessment scores, work habits, social/emotional needs, and learning styles. We utilize the data gathered from these factors to place students in well-balanced classes.
The process of creating well-balanced classes is a challenging and thoughtful task. As a partner in your child's education, we offer you the opportunity to provide input on your child's academic and behavioral strengths and challenges.
In following district practice, Sequoyah will not accept specific teacher requests. All teachers at Sequoyah work collaboratively with one another to provide a high quality education. Teachers use educational best practices and research-based district mandated curriculum resources to deliver individualized instruction. In addition, regardless of the teacher, all children will receive a similar experience within a grade-level.
If you would like to provide information for us to consider when making class lists, please complete the form below by Friday, May 31st.
Please note - this form only needs to be filled out if here is a situation you need us to be aware of.
Student Council
I wanted to give a special shout out to our fabulous Student Council. These students have planned fun activities and coordinated service projects for our school all year. I'm so thankful to have these wonderful leaders in the building. Thank you for being their sponsor, Ms. Scharf! They're on the path to great things!
Second Step
Kindergarten worked on how to handle being "knocked down." When they're hurt, they need to first calm down before reacting. Then ask for more information instead of assuming an action was on purpose.
First and Second Grade continued to work on solving problems and practicing how to anticipate when they might have a problem to face. They should also think about consequences before picking a solution.
Our upp el did not have second step this week due to FastBridge Testing.
Volunteer Breakfast
Please join us for our annual volunteer breakfast! Sequoyah wouldn't be the special place it is without our incredible volunteer support. Please RSVP here so that we can plan accordingly.
