Principals' Update
Greetings MacArthur Families,
Happy Friday! It was an incredibly fun and creative Friday! We loved seeing our core value of Being Yourself on full display today. The creative energy was certainly flowing with all of the amazing costumes. Many of our fellow Gryffindors joined us for a picture at the end of the day. We look forward to adding some favorites to the MacArthur website in the days ahead!
Thank you for reading the MacArthur Notes each week! It is great to connect with all of you who read and hear your input on some of the things you read in the newsletter. Please don't hesitate to reach out to learn more about what's happening day to day at MacArthur or inquire about something related to Waltham Public Schools. If you haven't had an opportunity yet, please check out our monthly Waltham Public Schools newsletter from Dr. Mendonsa and her team. This Week: In addition to all of the Read Across America Character Dress Up excitement, the 2nd Grade capped off their interdisciplinary literacy unit on fossils with a presentation by Dino-Man! This was a highlight for many students (and staff!) who attended. The students learned a great deal about fossils, how they are made, and how scientists know dinosaurs were here on Earth long ago. Dinoman, who is a real paleontologist, shared real fossils with us and brought inflatable dinosaurs that were accurately sized! They were HUGE and the students loved it!
Next Week: MCAS begins! Students in Grades 3-5 will take their first test in English Language Arts. Click here for more information about MCAS this year. MCAS Family Letter 2025

Next Month: Class Placement for the 2025-2026 school year will begin in early May and take place with input from all stakeholders over the final weeks of the school year. During the month of April, we invite parents and caregivers to provide input on placement for their child(ren). Thank you for reading this letter for more information and reaching out with any questions. Please note: we are unable to honor requests for specific teachers. After receiving family input, we work together as a team to create our learning communities utilizing input from classroom teachers, specialists, support staff, and administration.
