Erin’s Law, Illinois Public Act 097-­1147, requires public schools to provide child sexual abuse prevention education for students in early childhood through twelth grades. During January and February, our school social workers will work with each grade level to provide age ­appropriate information. Erin’s Law information can be found on the District’s website including the optional opt-out form.

The week of January 23rd, District 25 will be recognizing the importance of Digital Citizenship and Internet Safety by having a Digital Citizenship spirit week! Get dressed up and learn about the best ways to be kind, safe, and responsible online!

Windsor is excited to announce that we will be partnering with the PTA's subcommittee Every Wildcat Counts for a Multicultural Week. The week will be March 6th through the 10th. During this week, students will attend an African Drum and Dance Assembly, participate in multicultural activities during their specials classes, and have the opportunity to sign up to participate in our first-ever multicultural evening titled Windsor Around the World. We are currently in the process of planning so please be on the lookout for more details and opportunities to sign-up to volunteer throughout the week as well as sign-up for the evening event.

Beginning January 20, please look out for a personalized email that will contain the directions on how your student can register for the language they wish to take in 6th grade.

Our school is kicking off our Kids Heart Challenge program on January 26, but you can get a jump start TODAY!

Getting started is as easy as 1..2…3…

1. Download the Kids Heart Challenge App or visit heart.org/KHC to register.
2. Choose your daily health challenge to Move More or Be Kind and earn your own BE THE TORCH wristband so you can help light the way!
3. Get a head start on COMPLETING FINN’S MISSION in your Headquarters, where you and your family can put the power of lifesaving Hands-Only CPR into YOUR hands and help us create a community of lifesavers! Try to do all 8 activities to complete the Mission!

Last week I shared an idea about melting ice. This week’s idea has to do with the the effects of melting sea ice on our world’s polar bear population. Kitchen Counter Chronicle has an activity they helps children see how the ice in our oceans is melting because of rising temperatures. She also shares some discussion questions that can lead to some interesting dinner table chats. You can find the activity here. ~Mrs. Stella

Every week, we are sharing information about several staff members at Windsor. This week, get to know our Physical Therapist!

I am a D25 Physical Therapist. You can find me at Windsor most days, but I also work at Olive-Mary Stitt, Dryden and South Middle Schools. I have my PT degree from Saint Louis University (Go Billikens!). This is my 17th year working as a school PT, but worked in a hospital prior to this.

I live in AH with my husband Jim and my children Catherine (at Miami University), Allie a senior at Prospect HS, Joe a freshman at Prospect and our dog Ranger.

Windsor is truly a special place and I’m so happy to be here.

If your child will be absent or tardy, please call the main line and listen for the prompts, 847-398-4297. You can also complete this online form: CLICK HERE TO REPORT AN ABSENCE ONLINE. While you may also email the teacher, there are times that the teacher will not read email prior to school starting. Please always leave a message first. We cannot stress this enough. Please also make every effort for your child to arrive at school on time. Missing the beginning of the school day often has a negative impact on students for the rest of the day. Please contact the office if your child will be tardy or needs to leave early.

Lunar New Year is the beginning of a calendar year based on moon cycles. Also known as: Chinese Chunjie, Vietnamese Tet, Korean Solnal, Tibetan Losar, or Spring Festival, typically celebrated in Asian countries that begins with the first new moon of the lunar calendar and ends on the first full moon of the lunar calendar, 15 days later.
