The Weekly Miner
February 13, 2025
"The one and only Mr. Dino. Mr. Dino is the one chill but absolutely hilarious yard duty. Mr. Dino can make my day more enjoyable when I'm at school. Also, Mr. Dino is a super funny guy, which he uses to comfort many people. Then, Mr. Dino probably laughs at himself twelve times a day at least."

Random Acts of Kindness
February is Random Acts of Kindness Month. Some of our 7th and 8th grade students decided they wanted to do something nice. So they came up with the idea to make Valentine's for our staff members and were so excited to keep it a secret while working on them! Thank you to Ms. Battle for helping them make their idea happen. Our staff members were so surprised and appreciative of the kind gesture!

Classified Employee of the Month - Kelley Kaku
Mrs. Kaku is one of our beloved yard supervisors. She has been working at our school for over 20 years! She cares deeply for all of our students and truly wants the best for each and every one of them. All Miners, both students and staff members, know that Mrs. Kaku has their backs. She always offers to help in any way she can. We all love her fun, positive attitude and appreciate her constant encouragement. Mrs. Kaku always tries to help our students understand that their actions have consequences and she inspires them to make good choices so that they don’t close the door to future opportunities. Congratulations, Mrs. Kaku!
Certificated Employee of the Month - Charity Owens
Mrs. Owens is not only one of our excellent 5th grade teachers, she is also our girls soccer coach and will soon be preparing our students to do their very best in the upcoming countywide Oral Interpretation Festival. Mrs. Owens not only wants to help her students learn and be successful in school, she also facilitates fun experiences for them (like taking them on a walking field trip to McDonald’s as a reward for reaching one of their goals!). Her students appreciate how calm and kind she is, and her colleagues think she is a team player and a great collaborator. She loves to share her passion for teaching with others who want to become educators. As a current mentor for the Teacher Induction Program (TIP), she is inspiring the next generation of teachers. We are so fortunate to have Mrs. Owens on our staff!
