Dear Brace Students and Families,

For me the school year has truly flown by and it's hard to believe we are now in the final month of the school year. This past week at school a group of students presented to the BRSD school board about the positive aspects of learning in an alternative setting and it was wonderful to hear about how BRACE has shaped their educational journey. As we get ready to have our Grade 12 Farewell on June 6th and I reflect upon the year, I can truly say it's been a fantastic year .

We will be hosting a BBQ for students on June 13th. We hope many of our students stay for lunch or stop by to grab a burger or hot dog.

June is also Pride month, a month where we celebrate the diversity and inclusivity within our school division. BRSD supports welcoming environments where everyone feels valued and respected for who they are. June 21st marks National Indigenous Peoples Day, a day to celebrate the richness of our First Nations, Inuit, and Metis cultures in Canada.

All of our BRACE courses are designed to be done in a semester, we provide extensions throughout the year but all courses will be considered final at the end of June. No courses are carried over to the fall. Please return all of your textbooks and resources by June 24th.

Because we have limited space, in order to accommodate the number of students writing English and Social Diploma Exams on June 11, 12, 18, and 19th we are unable to have in person learners these days. Please refer to exams schedule below.

Summer School registration is posted on our website and we are offering a variety of classes in July. Students need to be prepared to devote the majority of their day to their studies as it’s a compressed timeline and each course is completed in less than a month. Students need to have their own device and good wifi and a willingness to work hard.

And finally thank you to our amazing students, staff, parents, and communities for all of your support over this past school year. It truly makes a difference to Battle River Alternative Centre for Education.

It's just around the corner!!!

Our graduation ceremony takes place at the Bailey Theatre in downtown Camrose on June 6th at 4 pm. Because our graduates come from a variety of geographic locations and our programs are offered online, there is no dinner or dance component.

We look forward to celebrating this milestone with our graduates.
