Dear Bobcat Families,
Our Leukemia Lymphoma Society (a.k.a. Light the Night) Fundraiser begins on Monday, February 26th and ends on March 15th. Our goal is to rains $3,000. Students and staff can bring cash or checks made payable to Leukemia Lymphoma Society. Collection containers are located in all homeroom classes. The top earning homeroom will receive a class celebration. Every Friday during this fundraiser window, ASB students will lead "Chuck Your Change." This is where parents who drop off students in front of the school can drop change into collection buckets held by ASB students as they exit the drive through loop. Thank you in advance for considering to donate to this worthy cause.
ELPAC Testing for our English Learner students begins this week. The test will take place during 1st and 2nd period. If your student is taking this test, please make sure that he/she is on time to school.
Brea Junior High School will be sending 5 students to the 2024 National History Day - OC competition on Saturday, March 9th at Sierra Vista Middle School in Irvine, California. This year's theme is Turning Points in History. Congratulations to our students who will participate in the National History Day Competition. See the flyer below for more information. Good luck!
On Thursday all 8th grade students will attend an informational meeting regarding behavior expectations. This meeting will inform 8th grade students of the type of behavior that is expected in order to be eligible to participate in end of the year events such as the 8th grade dance, Knott's Berry Farm field trip and the promotion ceremony. There will also be a section dedicated to grade eligibility as it relates to participation in the promotion ceremony. Students will sign an agreement indicating that they understand the expectations. The admin team is hopeful that all 8th grade students will be able to partake in all end-of-year activities. Any 8th grade student who does not attend this assembly will participate in a make-up session.
This Friday is the first day of Women's History Month. During the month of March students will learn about different women and how they influenced our society. Look for YouTube videos in each newsletter to learn about an influential woman in history.
Black history month ends this Thursday. Students will continue to hear interesting facts about famous Black figures who impacted American history during the morning announcements. Don't forget to watch the YouTube video below for more facts about famous Black figures.
