Scholastic Art & Writing Awards
The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are presented by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers. The Awards give students opportunities for recognition, exhibition, publication, and scholarships.
In 2024, more than 110,000 teens across the United States and Canada entered more than 340,000 original works in 28 different categories of art and writing.
In 2025, 7,898 Individual Art Entries and 216 Art Portfolios were subimitted. Of the entries the following awards were given:
Gold Key recipients- 574
Silver Key recipients- 729
Honorable Mention- 1,328
Laker Winners:
Eva Dingee received a Gold Key for her nature impression bowls she made in Ceramics class-

Ava Sherrick received a Silver Key for her nature impression bowls she made in Ceramics class-

Ava also received an Honorable Mention for her oil pastel portrait drawing

Presentation to School Committee
Students presented to the School Committee on Wednesday night showcasing their Laker Pride through participation in Clubs. More than 588 club memberships demonstrate what it means to be involved and to make a difference!
We thank the School Committee for allowing our students to share their passion for the clubs and activities to which they belong and we recognize Maddy, Theo, Ethyn, Zoe, Jocelyn, Logan, Celia, Rory, Gabby, Sam, Abby, Ryan, Reagan, Olivia, Claire, Delaney, Gracen, Alex, Nick, Eugene, and Katerina for the creation of the presentation and for their dedication to sharing their Laker Pride!

This past weekend, fourteen Apponequet music students were selected via audition to participate in the SEMSBA Band and Choral Festival; they will perform with other selected students from all over SouthEastern Massachusetts. Congratulations to Colby Blais, Michael Bobulis, Braley DiCarlo, Mia Furtado, Abigail Hellwege, Hana Marshall, Mya McPhillips, TJ Norton, Ashley Silva, Joey Silvia, Lucas Soares, Zoe Trinque, Lexie True and Serena Whenal for this great musical achievement!

Art Share Travel continues the beautiful mural!
Clothing Bin - We are happy to "Go Green" by reducing textile waste from the local landfill with a FREE, No-Work Clothing and Shoes Recycling Fundraising Program. This clothing bin is located by the fence of the upper lot between GRAIS and ARHS. Please donate your clothing, rags, linens, shoes, handbags, and more to be recycled. Funds earned by this program will be used by our Laker Leader group to support community initiatives and school-wide needs.
