Principal Bids Farewell
Dear Sprague Families,
As I prepare to transition into a new role at the close of this school year, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for the connections and memories we've built together. It has been an honor to serve this incredible community, and while I am excited for this next chapter, I will deeply miss the daily interactions with our families, staff, and all our little Wildcats! Please know that you are in exceptional hands moving forward, and I wish each of you continued success, joy, and growth in all that lies ahead. Once a Wildcat Always a Wildcat!
With appreciation,
Ann Hofmeier
Sprague Principal

District Welcomes Sprague Principal
District 103 is thrilled to announce that Dr. Stephanie Daly has been selected as the next principal of Laura B. Sprague School, beginning July 1, 2025. Read the entire story.
Dr. Daly will assume the role of principal following the departure of Mrs. Ann Hofmeier, who has served as Sprague’s principal for the past eight years. Mrs. Hofmeier is transitioning to a new role as Director of Human Resources and Talent Acquisition at the Exceptional Learners' Collaborative, a special education cooperative serving districts in Lake County. We are grateful for Mrs. Hofmeier’s dedicated leadership at Sprague and wish her continued success in this exciting new chapter.
Dr. Daly brings over 23 years of experience in education, including 13 years in administrative leadership at both the school and district levels. She currently serves as the Executive Director for Student Services in Elmwood Park District 401 and previously held roles as an elementary principal and Assistant Director for Special Education in Marquardt District 15.
🛑 Stop the Reading Slide
Sprague reading specialists have gathered a list of resources on the importance of reading over the summer. They have organized books by grade level to increase the enjoyment of reading in young learners while offering a degree of challenge. In addition, there are fun games to play to make reading enjoyable for everyone.
Artists of the Year
Art Teacher Allison Smith named three students as Artist of the Year 2025. They are:
- Kindergarten: Ninjin Khangaisaikhan
- 1st Grade: Emilia Liang
- 2nd Grade: Brooke Boylan
"These students were chosen for their creativity, a passion for art, always participating in class, thinking outside of the box, and expressingi how much they love art," Mrs. Smith said.
An sample of the students artwork will be displayed in the front entrance of the school for all visitors to enjoy when they come to Sprague School.
Guided Buddies Program
Exploring the Wild World of Animals
Sprague first-graders recently completed an exciting writing and science unit focused on animals. Each student chose an animal to research using non-fiction books and digital tools, learning facts about habitats, behaviors, and more. After gathering their information, students created their own non-fiction books to showcase what they had learned, as seen in these photos.
Aakavi Senthil, who researched squirrels, shared, “There are flying squirrels. And, one squirrel can have eight pups at a time.”
