Each year, many of our MCAS students are honored through this contest and receive prizes. This year, entries can be submitted electronically via a dropbox link, or they must be postmarked by Feb 8. (Note: Due to the pandemic, the Commission is looking at an alternative to its traditional awards ceremony. Details will be released later.)
Food Service News
The MCAS Food Service Department is providing 5-day bags of meals for remote learners, which are available for pick up on Mondays from 4:00-5:30pm at Krueger or MCHS. During the hybrid schedule, in-person learners will eat at school T/W/R and will be able to receive a 2-day bag of meals at schools on Mondays, beginning Feb 8, from 4:00 - 5:30pm. All meals should be ordered by noon on Wednesdays; order forms are here: http://educateMC.net/food.
Please remember that our cafés will remain cashless. To purchase staff meals or student a la carte options, an account must be set up in our point of sale system, Titan. These instructions are on the Food Service website.
Congratulations to Knapp Food Service Manager Dori Weigand, who was featured in the most recent edition of NEA Today, a national magazine! The article profiled Dori and the hard work of our Food Service team in providing meals for students throughout the pandemic.
Good news! The Michigan City Area Schools Food Service Department has been awarded a No Kid Hungry Grant of $15,000. Funds are being used to purchase Grab and Go Breakfast carts, soft coolers to transport food to classrooms, a food packaging machine to seal and keep food fresh, and containers and supplies for packaged meals.
