Kia ora koutou Parents and Macleans Primary Whānau,

All of us at Macleans Primary hope you had an enjoyable holiday break. Welcome to our new families joining us this term and we look forward to seeing you at school and attending our school events.

Term 3 is a busy, exciting term of learning, sports, cultural activities and trips. We have already had a 'big week' last week with our Olympics Week and 100 Days of school last Friday. Of course, we can't forget all the great Macleans Learning and Values we have seen already this term!

Please get behind the PTA's latest fundraiser...pizza lunch next Thursday! 8 August - details below. Whilst I am on the subject of our PTA, a huge THANKS for their support of the '100 Days at School'. the PTA provided the decorations and ice-blocks that we all enjoyed.

Room 6 to Room 9

Room 6 and Room 7 are now finished and the children are all back to their refurbished class. Room 8, Room 9 and the new toilets are still a few weeks away. The R6 to R9 gutters are all being replaced, along with parts of the cladding and other external features. We will painting R6-R9 later int he year, early next year.

Toilet Refurbishment

The refurbishment of the boys toilet next to the library is now finished. The toilets will be open from this Friday morning. We will be looking to make plans to refurbish all of the toilets as needed within the next year, likely in our next round of MoE property funding.

Water Fountain

We have four fountains around the school and each of them is being replaced with a new, updated, stainless steel model. This will be happening over the next few weeks.

Room 1 to Room 5 & Room 10 & Room 11

We will soon be deciding the company that will complete the refurbishment of the walls, carpets and electrical upgrade: distribution box, lights and heat pumps.

Inter-School Cross Country on Tuesday 13 August (Y4-Y6 students only with the team selected from the school-wide cross-country)

Inter-School Boys Soccer on 3 and 10 September (Y4-Y6 students only selected from trials)

Inter-School Gymnastics on 23 August

Inter-School Netball on 5 and 12 September ((Y4-Y6 students only selected from trials)

Please follow the road rules and DO NOT park on yellow lines. Be patient driving along Wycherley at drop-off and pick-up time.

Basketball will continue as usual for Term 3 at Macleans Primary School on Thursdays 3.30 - 4.30pm. **For those players who are paying termly fees only, please refer below. If you have paid fees for full year, please kindly ignore payment instructions**

Led by Room 3 Mrs Tarryn Scott. the Evergreen Enviro team finished in 6th place (out of 12 schools) in the Annual PestFree Howick Moth Pod Competition. The evergreen enviro. team has won a Classic Yacht Charitable Trust experience trip to Motuihe Island later in the year. Congratulations Evergreen Enviro Team, and well done letting those pesky moth pods know who is boss!

A reminder that the two most recent PTA fundraisers, the Cookie Dough profit: $2,505.08 and Movie profit: $1,327.17. 40% of each of these profits will go toward the turf/canopy project.

• PTA Disco (Movie Characters theme) Thursday 19th September; Session #1: 6–7pm (Years 1–3) and Session #2: 7:30-8:30pm (Years 4–6) (pre-sales Thursday 22nd August – Thursday 12th September)

The Y3-Y6 Swimming programme at Lloyd Elsmore Pools begins on Wednesday 7 August. The last day for the programme is Friday 27 September. the swimming programme is part of the Macleans Primary School Curriculum, specifically the Health & PE Programme. All students are expected to take part in the programme. Taught by swim teachers, all abilities are catered for. More information in the downloadable information sheet (below) which went out to all Y3-Y6 classes. Please refer to the information received from your child's classroom as to the time they are going, or you coan download the timetable belwo.

Te Takohanga or responsibility can mean a number of things, but essentially here at Macleans Primary responsibility for students in school and in class on time. Show respect to other persons and to school property and the property or others. Contribute to a safe and orderly school environment that is conducive to learning. Strive and work to the best of their ability.

Please collect and send in your yummy apple apple stickers. Collect the Yummy cut-out labels from bags (each cut-out label is worth 10 stickers) and individual Yummy apple stickers and Macleans Primary School can get free Sport sports gear. Yummy apples are available from New World, PAK’nSAVE and participating Four Square stores. The more we collect, the more sports gear we can get so get going and start collecting your Yummy cut-out labels and stickers now. With each yummy apple sticker brought in, children get a House Counter! The sticker sheets are available for pick up from the office. They can also be downloaded below.
