DMS 60th Anniversary
Super Viking Parents and Guardians
This month, we proudly celebrate 60 years of excellence at Dulles Middle School! For six decades, Dulles has remained a pillar of academic distinction, shaping generations of students who have gone on to achieve great success. Our commitment to educating students at the highest level remains unwavering, and we continue to set the standard for excellence in learning.
Dulles has always been a place where diversity is celebrated, bringing together students from various backgrounds to create a vibrant and inclusive learning environment. Our commitment to academic achievement is reflected in the dedication of our students and staff, who consistently strive for excellence in the classroom and beyond. In addition, our athletic programs continue to build character, discipline, and teamwork, allowing our student-athletes to compete at a high level while representing the Viking spirit with pride.
I am incredibly proud of our current students as they continue to work hard and embody the Above the Line standards set by their predecessors. Their success is a reflection of the collective dedication of our teachers, staff, families, and the entire Dulles community. Together, we are ensuring that our students are prepared for bright futures.
As we celebrate this milestone, let us remember that excellence is not just a tradition at Dulles—it is our way of life. The foundation built over the past 60 years continues to inspire and guide us toward being Above the Line in everything we do.
National School Counseling Week 2025-February 3-7, 2025
This week, we celebrate Counselor Appreciation Week and recognize the dedication of our incredible counseling team—Mr. Burnett, Ms. Sanders, Dr. Clay, and our wonderful counselor assistant, Ms. Chong. Their commitment to supporting our students, staff, and families truly exemplifies Above the Line behavior in all they do. Their guidance, care, and hard work make a lasting impact on the DMS community every day. We are truly fortunate to have such an outstanding team leading the way!
Dream Box
We continue to encourage students to use DreamBox. DreamBox provides personalized instruction by adjusting to each student’s learning level, helping them build confidence and improve their understanding of key concepts.
To motivate students to engage with the program, we are maintaining our incentive: students who complete five DreamBox lessons each week will earn a free 100 as a quiz grade! The best part? These five modules take less than an hour to complete, making it an easy way for students to boost their grades while reinforcing essential math skills.
We strongly encourage students to take advantage of this opportunity, as regular use of DreamBox has been shown to increase math performance and deepen conceptual understanding. Your support at home—reminding students to complete their lessons—can make a significant impact on their success.

Wearing Student Badges
All students are required to visibly display their Student ID badge during normal school hours while on campus. The badge must be worn above the waist with the student’s picture clearly visible. Exceptions are afforded for students participating in vigorous activity related to recess or a PE credit class. Elementary students in PreK, Kindergarten, first grade, and self-contained classrooms are exempt from displaying badges during the school day.
Student Badge Use
Student badges provide access to services within the building, including the following access/check-ins:
• Cafeteria meal payments
• Library services
• Students who ride the Bus
• Entrance to campus events (dances, pep rallies, etc.)
• Entrance to games
• Students and Staff entering campus locations (effective date TBD)
Student Badge Replacement
There are several reasons a student might need a replacement badge and no badge replacement fee will be required for the following circumstances:
• Student enrolls at a new campus
• Student appearance changes significantly
• Legal name change
Students are expected to turn in their old ID when a new one is provided.
Students who lose their badge will be offered temporary identification. If the old badge cannot be located replacement fees may be required.
Temporary Identification – Secondary Students Only
If a secondary student arrives at school without a badge, they will be given a temporary wristband to wear during the school day at the beginning of their first period on campus. The student must wear the wristband all day. The student’s name is recorded by the issuing staff member to assist with tracking.
