Pasadena Unified Hosts Community Gathering to Reconnect with Students & Families
In response to the devastation caused by the Eaton Fire, the Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) is hosting a community event for students, families, and staff to reconnect as a community and heal together. There will be vendors offering free food, art activities and games for students, and PUSD departments will be on hand with information and resources for families.
WHEN: Friday, January 17, 2025, 2 - 4 p.m.
WHERE: Pasadena City College, Parking Lot 3
1570 E. Colorado Blvd., Pasadena, CA 91106
Pasadena Unified is committed to the well-being of students, especially during times of crisis. When the Eaton Fire burned through neighborhoods within the district, Pasadena Unified closed its campuses and opened Grab and Go meal distribution centers to meet the immediate needs of students and their families. PUSD also began developing a curriculum of self-directed studies to keep students engaged while schools were closed, coordinated housing assistance, and with the support of community partners, started free child care services for families. PUSD schools are already being cleaned and sanitized so that students will have a safe and healthy learning environment when they return.
The district also continues its commitment to the social-emotional well-being of students, understanding that schools are where students can build social skills and learn healthy ways to cope with stress.
This district-wide event is an opportunity for students to see their friends and teachers, families to get information and resources from PUSD departments, and colleagues to share support. There will be activities for children, creating a space for connection and healing as we navigate this recovery together.
Free parking is available in the parking lot structure 4.
The Pasadena Unified School District serves approximately 14,000 students across 24 schools, and at five children’s centers.
