Dear Elmdale Community,

It is great to be back at school! September at Elmdale School was filled with the buzz and excitement that the new school year and first days bring. Students got to know their teachers, learned new routines, participated in many lessons, and made new friends. Plus, we all had the opportunity to sing the Elmdale school song together at the assemblies - how fun!

Positive behaviour support continues to be a very important part of the school culture here at Elmdale. The language from Have You Filled a Bucket Today, by Carol McCloud, is still used often. We regularly encourage kids to be bucket fillers, not bucket dippers. We want our students to be happy at school. With the purpose of helping students grow in prosocial behaviors, we continue to use green slips and amber slips. The green slips help us to recognize your child when they do something kind. Whereas the amber slips support the process of getting a student back on track. We will also be resuming the Princi-pal awards beginning in the second week of October.

Finally, we welcome a new staff member. Mrs. Margo Smith has been hired as an EA - welcome!

Costume Parade - October 31

Hello Elmdale Parents! This year we will be trying everything we can to have the new play structure for this school year! Come out to our next meeting on October 21st at 6:30 pm in the library where we will have the design to show you! This year all funds raised from hot lunch and fundraisers will be going to the installation of the structure as well as helping out with the artist in the school, birthday pencils, new book program and kindergarten school shirts. We will be sending information shortly on our first fundraiser to keep your eye out! If you have any questions feel free to email us at elmdaleparentcouncil@gmail.com. Thanks for all your support!

Our Rocco's Fundraiser runs from October 7-18. We are working towards getting the playground project completed in 2025. Thank you!

Nearly 40 Elmdale students completed the Summer Reading Bingo Challenge - way to go readers! They celebrated with a pizza party On Friday, September 20th, and it was very much enjoyed. Thank you to Mrs. Torrie for organizing the party and to Little Caesars for supplying the pizza. Keep on reading, everyone!

Under clear skies and with Mrs. Tufford's leadership, our students learned, celebrated, and ran in Terry Fox's memory on September 26th. Congratulations on raising over $1000 for cancer research!
