AAPAC Newsletter

Greetings Community,
On behalf of AAPAC, I hope you have had an excellent start to the new school year! It was great connecting with some of you during the summer at Kings Day and last month at Black to School. I am excited to announce that after serving as interim, I have officially accepted the role of AAPAC Program Manager. I have over 20 years of experience in civic engagement, community collaboration & stakeholder management, serving primarily Black Families. I humbly stand on the shoulders of giants as I step into a new school year, listening, educating, and advocating for and with families of Black children across San Francisco.
I invite you all to join us next Thursday, September 21, 2023, at 5:30 p.m. in the Leola Havard Auditorium for the September General Meeting. SFUSD leadership will be joining a panel conversation led by AAPAC Parent leaders. After the panel, each panelist will be available for follow-up questions. Dinner and childcare are provided. Parking is available on the corner of Lane & Oakdale inside the gates with the basketball courts. We hope that you will join us!

The mission of the African American Parent Advisory Council (AAPAC) is to provide a forum to hear the ideas of families of Black/African American students in the San Francisco Unified School District’s and respond to those ideas by educating and informing parents of district resources, policies, and programs. It is our goal to cultivate the power within all African American/Black students and families by providing the knowledge and skills necessary to advocate for a high quality educational experience for our children. The AAPAC works to develop resources that allow families to more actively support the academic instruction their children receive and engage with educators and administrators in the San Francisco Unified School District.
