Sunnyvale's First Lego League Robotics Team Advances to State
The Blades Robotics Team Heads to State
Congratulations to The Blades, Sunnyvale's first Lego League Robotics Team, for advancing to the State Championship this past weekend! The team, made up of fourth through seventh grade students, first advanced from Qualifier to Regional competition with a 3rd place award for Core Values and a 3rd place finish in the Robot Game. They earned a 5th place overall finish out of 60 North Texas Regional Qualifiers, securing their spot in the State Competition. This achievement is a result of their outstanding combined scores in the Innovation Project, Robot Design/Coding, Core Values, and Robot Game performance.
Making Waves! Vale Swim Team Wins 4th in State
Our Vale Swim Team had incredible achievements at the recent State Swim Meet. The girls team finished 8th overall, while the boys team secured 7th place in the state of Texas. With these outstanding results, we are proud to be recognized as the fourth best public school swim program in the entire state.
Breaking eight school records, our swimmers set a new benchmark for excellence. These record-breaking performances were led by Kaelyn Gardner, Harper Bryant, Brooke Johnson, Camden Mitschke, Felipe Castellon, Jace Mangrum, Ben Stephens, and Sam Frazer. Each of these eight swimmers also ranked among the top three fastest swimmers in 4A public schools.
Congratulations to Coach Holland who has had an amazing first year with the Vale Aquatics program. Under Coach Holland’s and Coach Stanfill's leadership, the team claimed District and Regional Championships, with Coach Holland being named Coach of the Meet both times. Additionally, Harper Bryant earned a state medal, a testament to the hard work and dedication of both our athletes and coaching staff. Thank you to everyone who supported the Vale Swim Team throughout the season.

SMS Students Learn How Kindness Impacts the Brain
It's Kindness Week! SMS Students Connect Acts of Kindness to Well Being
SMS sixth and seventh graders were taught how kindness can positively change your brain. Being kind boosts serotonin and dopamine, which give you feelings of satisfaction/well being. Being kind can also reduce stress and lower depression!
Check out our Random Acts of Kindness Tree. Students committed to delivering these gestures and actions to show care and compassion to others, and in return, make a positive impact on their own lives.
