Wilson Soccer Team Garners National Awards
The Wilson High School girls varsity soccer team has received two awards from the United Soccer Coaches, the world’s largest soccer coaches’ organization that serves members at every level of the game.
The team was recognized by United Soccer Coaches with a bronze-level Team Ethics and Sportsmanship award. Read more at this link: United Soccer Coaches High School Spring Team Ethics and Sportsmanship.
The Wilson team also received the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic award. The team had a cumulative GPA of 4.36 vs. the minimum required 3.25. The soccer program at Wilson is one of eleven girls programs in South Carolina to earn the award and one of 175 across the United States to earn the award. Florence 1 Schools is closer to selecting its 2024-2025 Teacher of the Year. Each school's teacher of the year competing for the title of Florence 1 Schools Teacher of the Year recently completed an application packet containing information relevant to the teaching profession.
An outside panel of three selection committee members (pictured below) reviewed the packets and rated each one using specific selection criteria. The teachers whose packets received the highest ratings have been named Honor Roll Teachers. Honor Roll Teachers are finalists in the quest to name a Teacher of the Year for Florence 1 Schools. They are (pictured above).
The Teacher of the Year Selection Committee will hold interviews sessions separately with the honor roll on Tuesday, September 17th. Scores from the interview and application packet will be calculated, and Florence 1's Teacher of the Year will be announced on Tuesday, September 24th at the 24th Annual School Foundation Gala. The Florence 1 Teacher of the Year's e for the title of South Carolina Teacher of the Year.

Family Day at the Florence County Museum
From toddlers to grandparents, Family Days at the Florence County Museum are sure to offer something for everyone. Family Day at the Florence Museum is the second Saturday of each month from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm No registration required, and it is free of charge.

In football action this weekend, the Bruins will host Fort Dorchester; and in a classic cross-town rivalry, the Knights of West Florence will host the Tigers of Wilson High.
