• We had an amazing week! Our students of the year were recognized on Monday. The Little Feet Meet for a specific group of students with their partners was wonderful! Field Day was outstanding! Thank you to the many volunteers who supported it. Coach A and the resource team did a great job of organizing it and making sure it ran smoothly. It was one of our best field days ever! Then, we ended the week with our STEAM team celebrating their success with five first place finishes out of the twelve events. Thank you to Mr. McFarling, STEAM teacher, and Mrs. Nelson, STEAM parent volunteer for helping to make this happen. Check out all of the pictures from this week! But, wait, I almost forgot! Ms. R. Rodriguez was recognized as a CCPS Game Changer on Friday too. I knew the week was going to be busy.

• It is time again for families to complete the annual Title I Survey. We use this information to support all of our students and families through out Title I Funds. For example, we review your input to plan our Family Engagement events.
• The Title I Family Engagement survey closes on May 31, 2024 and is available in six languages. Please use this survey link or the QR code to complete the survey. Thanks so much!

• Reams Road Fun Run fundraiser for our school kicks off on 04/24/2024! We’re excited for this year’s fitness and character-building fundraiser! The school’s goal is to raise $10,000 for PTA programs and grade-level field trips. The theme is World Changer Workshop. If we meet the goal, Mr. Eberts and I will complete the Impossible Shot (ask your student about this) until we make it, even if it takes all day. All students will participate in the Fun Run of about 30 laps on our course whether or not they register and raise funds. This is a donations based fundraiser that is voluntary.

Daily Challenges:

• April 24: Register and you can wear PJs tomorrow.
• April 25: Log in and create your own Booster Star Video.
• April 26: Weekend Challenge and any student who earns $2.00 in pledges per lap (or a flat rate of $60.00) will receive a bonus prize.
• April 29: $10.00 in pledges earns a shoe free day (in the classroom only)
• April 30: Any donations tonight equals sports jersey day tomorrow.
• May 1: How many states can we get donations from tonight?
• May 2: Last day for pledging and anyone with a donation tonight gets to wear sunglasses tomorrow.

• Do you enjoy watching Broadway musicals? Do you enjoy seeing students shine? Do you just need some fun in your life? Then, come out one and all to Reams this weekend!!!
• Finding Nemo, Disney Musical, will be performed on Friday, April 26, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. and Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. There will be a dress rehearsal for the school on April 26.
• Tickets are now available through our PTA's Memberhub portal. Tickets are $5.00. The purchase of tickets helps us fund the musical for next year. You may also check out the flyer for a QR code.
  
• While online ordering is preferred, at the door tickets may be available. There will also be a 50/50 raffle to support the musical.

• The clinic is in need of boys' underwear sizes 4t/5t and XL and girls' underwear sizes 4 and 6. There is also a need for pants for both boys and girls or gender neutral size 7/8.
  

• Please share that Kindergarten Registration is open. Parents should begin with the Kindergarten CCPS Website. We will continue to accept Kindergarten registrations. Please call the office if there are any questions.
• Do you have a child that will be four-years-old by September 30th, 2024? Please apply for the PreK program for the upcoming school year! We are currently accepting applications. Go to https://www.oneccps.org/page/prekindergarten, check out the flyer, or call the PreK office at 804-706-6061 to apply!
  

• Wow! We improved attendance tremendously this week! Several grade levels had 98-99% attendance for more than one day. Let's finish strong with attendance!

• Thank you to everyone who made our Field Day an outstanding time. We asked for volunteers and you showed up! Our students had a blast!

The School Year 2023-2024 Indicator 8 Parent Involvement Survey collection period has begun for special education. This survey is for families of students receiving special education services. The online survey is the preferred method of submission and is available at:

You may also use the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) flyer to use the QR code. You may request a paper copy as well. The survey closes December 13, 2024.

Spring SOL Testing will begin later this month. Please put these dates on your calendar to ensure students are in school for testing. Students tend to do better when testing with their class instead of on a make up test date. For more information, see the Parent Letter.

• Reading SOL Testing: April 30 5th grade, May 1 4th grade, May 2 3rd grade
• Math SOL Testing: May 7 5th grade, May 8 4th grade, May 9 3rd grade
• Science: May 14 5th grade
• VA History: May 15 4th grade

Due to testing, the lunch and resource schedule may change on the above dates. All testing will begin at 10:00 a.m. on testing days.

• Please remember that students should dress appropriately as the weather warms up. This includes wearing shorts that are clearly visible beyond a shirt and not too short, tops with wider straps, not spaghetti straps, and shoes appropriate for recess. We want to make sure that student clothing does not detract from learning.
• Please remind your students that we will continue learning until the last day as we are life-long learners and there is still much to do.

• On Monday, April 29, 2024 from 4:30p-7:30p, the CCPS Mental Health Support Specialist Team will be hosting, in conjunction with our FACE office, SPRING INTO WELLNESS, a mental health resource fair for everyone! There will be over 30 vendors present. This event is for EVERYONE! Pizza will be provided for attendees and there will be family focused fun activities. It will be held at CTC@Hull from 4:45-7:15 p.m.

• There will also be some fun competition involved... The elementary, middle, and high school with the highest participation will receive $500 to spend on anything related to mental health curriculum items for your counseling department.

PTA Booster Fun Run is coming!

• The kick off for our Fun Run fundraiser which is always fun will be on April 24 and the Fun Run is on May 3. Please put this date on your calendar! The theme is World Changer Workshop.

• Our next P.T.A. meeting will be Tuesday, April 23 at 6:30 p.m. The meeting link will be shared with the board and other interested PTA members. Please email Mrs. Seitz or Reams PTA to receive the link. It often doesn't work and we have to resend it at the beginning of the meeting.
