Weekly Update

From the Principal

Dear Aquin Families,

This week the cold weather has hit us hard! Thank you for helping us continue to go outside for fresh air by packing gloves, hats and warm coats. We try to go out until it hits 10 degrees (with the windchill).

The Choir concert is this Sunday at 6PM in the auditorium. On Tuesday we will have our K-6 Christmas program. We hope you can join us for some holiday cheer! The PTO book fair will also be available the night of the Christmas program and then again on the Gingerbread activity night on December 16th. If you would like to visit the book fair, but cannot get here during those times, please contact the office and we will try to make arrangements for you.

We have vision and hearing screenings on Monday, December 9th. If your child wears glasses, please make sure that they come to school on Monday. This will help ensure that all students are properly screened.

We had great news this week with being approved for the National School Lunch Program. Please make sure that you send in the form if you think you may qualify for a reduced or free lunch. The reduced lunch price is $0.40. We will continue to offer the full price lunch ($4.50) to everyone that would like to purchase a lunch.

It's also the first week of advent, and the theme of the week is hope. We hope in the promises that God makes us by sending his son, Jesus. This week we also got to share a little in St. Nicholas day, the saint that reminds us that giving in private gives us a good feeling that is a great reward in itself. I hope the magic of Advent remains present for you and your family throughout this blessed season.

Adesse - Our Fall Fundraiser

Great job Bulldogs! We have sold $13, 075 in Adesse tickets. Remember that we have more incentives coming up for ticket sellers.

Our first drawing winner is the Morhardt family! They win a $50 gift card of their choice. Congratulations!

Adesse tickets are still available in the office. Ticket holders have a chance to win 365 times! More information went out separately, but if you do not -understand or have any questions, please contact Mr. Peyton Glawe at 815-235-3154 x 221.

Aquin PTO News

The Aquin PTO was selected as a recipient of a $9000 donation from the Knights of Columbus for some additional playground equipment. We are extremely grateful for their dedication to Aquin and our students. Please help us thank the Knights of Columbus when you see them!

We will be adding these items in the spring when we are able to install them properly.

Please contact Mrs. Gaulrapp if your child needs to be absent or tardy.

Tardy for Pre-K is after 8 AM. Tardy for K-8 is after 7:45 AM.

If your child is late to school, please come to the Galena Street entrance by the office and have your child check in at the office before heading to class.
