Winter marches on this month. Please continue to send your kiddos in their coats and hats. Recess is permitted as long as the feels like temperature is above 32 degrees, so students need to be dressed appropriately to spend a little time outside. Also, Coach K is here 3 days a week for PE, so please be sure that you are sending your child in tennis shoes. It is hard to run and exercise in galoshes or snow boots. You really can't go wrong with tennis/athletic shoes, and if they are velcro - even better!!

Your teachers are finishing up Mid-Year Summative Assessments, and they will be going over all of that information at your Parent-Teacher conferences. I am excited by all of the progress we are seeing! Be sure that you are signed up for a conference time. Our goal is 100% parent participation!

February is the shortest month of the year, but it always proves to be a busy one. Read on for everything on the calendar this month!

Johnson Pre-K will celebrate our 100th day of school on Friday, February 7th. Please look for more information from your child's classroom teacher.

We will have Valentine's Day parties on Friday, February 14th from 1:30pm-2:30pm. Please look for information from your classroom teacher regarding individual classroom parties. If you would like to volunteer to help out, please remember that you will need to be a district approved volunteer. This process can take up to a week for approval, so please apply now if you haven't already! (link in button below). Volunteers should coordinate with your classroom teacher. All visitors will also need a picture ID (driver's license) to be signed in.

And just a reminder, any treats to share will need to be store-bought per district policies. Thank you for your cooperation.

Look for sign-up information from your child's teacher. Please sign up for a conference time and see how much progress your kiddo has made! Our goal is 100% parent/grown-up participation, so please help us out and sign up and attend your child's conference. Thank you!

Parents of children birth to age 4 years old (not yet in school) - Please join us for Music and Movement in the Library at Johnson Pre-K Center on Wednesday, February 26th! There are fun activities for the children and parents to all do together! This is a great opportunity to meet other parents and build new friendships. Every child will also receive a free book. Come and see what it's about and have some fun playing, too!

When everyone in the class is in attendance on the same day, we call that a Perfect Attendance Day! Classes track their Perfect Attendance Days and they are celebrated at Rise-N-Shine every week. For every 10 Perfect Attendance Days, the class gets a special reward. The first 10 and 20 are celebrated with an extra recess. So far Mrs. Ellis and Mrs. Ortiz's class is leading the way with 24 Perfect Attendance Days! Read below to see where your child's class is on the list:

Did you know that Johnson Pre-K has our own Aftercare program? We are open on school days from 3pm - 6pm. We have fun activities, learning opportunities, and even a snack every day! Right now we have openings in our Aftercare Program, so call the office if you would like more information, or email Mrs. Huggins at jjhuggins@okcps.org

Please be sure that we are aware of any medical issues or allergies that your child has that may affect them here at school. As per district policy, we are unable to provide or administer medication to your child unless we have an Authorization of the Administration of Medication form that has been completed by your child's physician. Please DO NOT send medication - including inhalers - in your child's backpack. When the form has been completed and sent to us, you will need to bring the inhaler into the office where it will be locked in a medical safe.

Also, if your child has food allergies that we should be aware of, please have your child's physician complete a Medical Statement form and return to us so that we may share this information with our cafeteria staff to make accomodations for your child. Both of these forms are available in the front office or on the OKCPS website.

As part of OKC Public Schools, we follow the elementary uniform policy. Students will need to wear uniforms daily.

• School Shirts
• Navy Blue, Khaki, & Black Pants/Bottoms

Closed-toe shoes - we have recess daily (weather permitting) and PE several times per week. Please help us keep everyone safe.

All bottoms must be at least fingertip length. Please have students wear shorts under dresses and rompers.
