Winter Parties
Dear Families,
As we approach the holiday season, we are excited to announce our upcoming winter celebration parties! These events will be held on December 19, 2024 from 11:00 AM - 1:30 PM in your child’s classroom, and we would love for you to be part of the festivities by contributing to the fun. (If you have made some arrangements to set up earlier with your scholar's teacher, that is fine.)
To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all students, we kindly ask for your cooperation in bringing appropriate foods. Here are some important guidelines:
- Nut-Free Options: To protect students with allergies, please avoid bringing any foods containing peanuts or tree nuts.
- Store-Bought Items: For safety and labeling purposes, we encourage store-bought snacks with ingredient lists clearly visible.
- Healthy Choices: While it’s a time to celebrate, we welcome fruits, veggies, and other healthy treats alongside traditional party foods.
- No Homemade Goods: While we appreciate your effort, homemade items cannot be served due to health and safety regulations.
If you plan to contribute, please coordinate with your child’s teacher or room parent to avoid duplicates and ensure a variety of treats.
We thank you in advance for helping make this event special for our students. If you have any questions or need clarification, please don’t hesitate to contact the school office
Candy Donations Request
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope this message finds you well as we prepare for the festive season! Our school is excited to announce our upcoming Winter Pep Rally, a special event designed to celebrate our students and staff
To make this event even sweeter, we are seeking candy donations from our wonderful families.
We are asking for individually wrapped candy that can be used for student treats, games, and giveaways during the pep rally. Popular items include:
Mini chocolate bars
Hard candies
Gummy candies
Lollipops
Please ensure that all donations are nut-free to accommodate students with allergies.
Candy donations can be dropped off at the front office starting Monday 12/16/2024 through 12/18/2024. If you have any questions or need further information, feel free to reach out to us.
Your contributions will help make this event a fun and memorable experience for our students. Thank you for your continued support and generosity!
Warm regards,
Mr. Davis
Penguin Patch
December 16, 2024 - December 19, 2024
We are excited to share that our school will be hosting the second annual in-school Penguin Patch® Holiday Shop through our PTA, bringing even more holiday cheer to our students! This beloved event provides a fantastic opportunity for students to shop for their loved ones while celebrating the spirit of giving. Not only do they get to find special gifts, but they also gain valuable lessons in earning, budgeting, and saving. We can't wait to see the joy this year's shop will bring to our school community!
The shop will be open from December 16th to December 19th, featuring over 100 delightful gifts priced between $0.50 and $12. This is a fantastic chance for your students to choose, purchase, and give meaningful gifts to their loved ones!
Yearbook Purchases
Library Books Due
The end of the semester is quickly approaching. I am pleased to report that over 7,500 books have been checked out this semester. That is over 2,000 more books than this time last year. We are growing our library and our readers together!
We are collecting all library books before the winter break. This allows us to start clean in the new year. There may be fines assessed for lost library books in My Payments Plus. Please turn in any library books so we can clear up the fines as soon as possible if the books are truly lost.
If you see any library books at home, please send them back to school with your scholar or drop them by the front office and the fines can be deleted. We do not charge overdue fines, but we do charge to replace the books if they are truly lost.
We currently have 180 scholars with overdue books. Please help us get these books back so we can continue to check out books. Mrs. Salgado will be sending out overdue materials notices to scholars the week of December 16 as reminders of what books to look for and how much the fines will be if the books are truly lost.
Thanks so much for your support and please reach out with any questions!

Student Business Expo - (January 21, 2025)
The AVID Student Business Expo is an inspiring event designed to showcase the entrepreneurial talents, creativity, and innovation of our students. This expo provides a platform for young visionaries to present their business ideas, products, or services to the school community, fostering skills such as communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
Students participating in the event take on the role of entrepreneurs, creating business concepts, designing displays, and engaging with attendees to explain their ideas. Whether they’re selling handmade crafts, promoting innovative services, or presenting solutions to real-world problems, the Business Expo highlights the ingenuity and determination of our future leaders.
This event is a celebration of student achievement and a key part of the AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) mission to prepare students for success in school, career, and life. Parents, teachers, and community members are invited to attend, support, and be inspired by the creativity of our students.
Join us for a day of innovation, excitement, and discovery at the AVID Student Business Expo!
