Message from the Superintendent
Dear RSU 21 Community,
This Sunday, we get to celebrate something really special – the graduation of our Kennebunk High School Class of 2025! I couldn't be more proud of this group of students and everything they've accomplished over the past four years.
These graduates have shown incredible resilience and determination throughout their high school journey. They've excelled in academics, athletics, and the arts while also giving back to their community through service. What strikes me most is how they've supported each other through challenges and celebrated each other's successes along the way.
As they head off to college, enter the workforce, or pursue other paths, I know they're ready for whatever comes next. The foundation they've built at KHS has prepared them well, and I have no doubt they'll continue to make us proud.
None of this would have been possible without the amazing support from families, our dedicated teachers and staff, and our entire RSU 21 community. Thank you for everything you've done to help these students reach this milestone.
To the Class of 2025: Congratulations! You've worked hard for this moment, and you deserve to celebrate. We can't wait to see all the great things you'll do.
I hope to see many of you at Sunday's ceremony as we send off these wonderful young people.
Much love,
Dr. Cooper

MSK students crunch the numbers in "real world" math
Eighth-graders in Mrs. McGlashan's GT math class took on the role of financial advisor on Friday in a simulation where they help community members find financing for a new house and car!
Students had to use several variables in their calculations, including interest rates, down payments, and loan terms to determine the most reasonable monthly payment.
Bestselling author and illustrator visits Sea Road School
Bestselling author/illustrator and Ogunquit native Matt Tavares spoke to Ms. Laflamme's class on Thursday about his career, offering insights into his process for creating graphic novels.
Tavares took students through his journey of writing his graphic novel, Hoops, from the research stage to editing and publication.
Tavares even demonstrated how he quickly sketches an image for his books, using one of the students as a model. It was fun to watch the image come alive so quickly!
Important Update: Changes to Special Services Delivery
Our district's related services providers have recently transitioned to a research-based 3:1 service model for Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Physical Therapy. This model provides direct service for three weeks, followed by indirect services for one week during months with four full weeks of school. This change takes a comprehensive approach to student needs in a school-based services model.
Families will see this update reflected in their student’s upcoming IEP. We encourage you to reach out to your student’s service providers with any questions about this transition.
For more information, visit our Special Services website or contact your student’s therapy team directly.

Community Announcements
Emergency Communications Demonstration
The New England Radio Discussion Society will demonstrate emergency communications during the national Amateur Radio Field Day exercise June 28-29 behind the Sea Road Church at 140 Sea Road in Kennebunk. Visitors are invited after 2 p.m. on Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday.
Operators will demonstrate communication abilities by voice, Morse code, and various digital modes.
Every June, more than 31,000 radio amateurs or “hams” throughout North America set up temporary transmitting stations in public places to demonstrate ham radio's science, skill, and service to communities and the nation. The event combines public service, emergency preparedness, community outreach, and technical skills in a single event.
The aim of amateur radio is to connect, both literally and figuratively. Amateur radio inspires the next generation of technical leaders by providing hands-on opportunities where students can gain experience in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. This event is hands-on; we are hoping local students will come with their families to have a chance to meet and talk with local ham radio operators and see for themselves what amateur radio is all about.
For details about ARRL Field Day, local club meetings, or amateur radio, contact Alex Mendelsohn: 207-967-8812.
