Mountain Lion Memo
Family Newsletter - September 13th
Hello Mackeben Families,
September is Attendance Awareness Month
Check out the graphic for some interesting statistics that reflect the importance of student attendance. To learn more about some of Huntley 158’s changes in attendance procedures this year, visit the district website. #AttendanceMatters #YourPresenceIsYourPower
At Mackeben we have Presence Puzzles in each classroom. When all students are present in class the teacher adds another piece to the puzzle. When the class gets all 10 pieces, each teacher will have a special prize for the class.
Also, we have an attendance tracker that we are keeping track of when each grade level reaches 95% attendance for the day. The first grade level to win, will earn a popsicle party!!!
Shining Bright - Staff Member of the Week
Mrs. Maggie Rodriguez
Mrs. Rodriguez joined our office staff three years ago. She can read each student as they walk into her room and can tell whether they need the caring mom approach, or a little humor tossed at them and their issue She handles everything from the head bumps that occur during PE, to scraped knees at recess, to the "wonderful" illnesses and bathroom accidents. Her love and passion for her job shows with each student that walks back out of her office with a smile on their face and the willingness to try to get through the day because of that magical band-aid or ice pack that was provided. We are lucky and blessed to have Nurse Maggie help us all continue to shine bright.
On the personal side, Mrs. Rodriguez was born in Poland and speaks Polish fluently. She is married and the mom to 3 boys.... Dylan, Logan and Henry. Her family recently adopted 2 dachshund puppies, which is a breed she has had since she was a little girl. She was a labor and delivery nurse for 10 years. and she was an officer in the Army for 4 years.
