Cold Weather Reminder: Dress for the Weather!
As the cold months are here, please ensure your child is dressed appropriately to stay safe and comfortable outdoors. Outdoor recess is an important part of the day, even in chilly weather! Students will go outside if the "real feel" temperature is 10°F or above, unless conditions like excessive ice make it unsafe.
To prepare for these cold days, please make sure your child wears hats, gloves or mittens, scarves, coats, snow pants, boots, and layers to stay warm. These items are essential not only for recess but also for walking/biking to school, arrival, dismissal, or even brief moments outdoors. Thank you for helping us keep our students healthy, safe, and ready to enjoy the winter season!
BOARD OF EDUCATION
Celebrating Our Avoca Board of Education
November 15 marked National School Board Members Day in Illinois, and we couldn’t be more grateful for our incredible Avoca Board of Education. These dedicated individuals serve as champions for our schools, bringing a local voice to the community, shaping the district's vision, and paving the way for student success. But they’re more than just board members—they’re our neighbors, friends, and some of Avoca’s biggest fans! Behind the scenes, they dedicate countless hours each month to meetings, decisions, and responsibilities that often go unnoticed. Thank you, Avoca Board of Education!

The Giving Tree
Want to make a difference this season? Sign up to sponsor a local child in need by completing this form by Thursday, December 5. Together, we can brighten the holidays for families in our community. Since 2019, The Giving Tree project has helped bring holiday joy to over 25 local families in need. Through the Roots and Shoots club, children share wish lists, and community donors make those wishes come true.
